I found it a little odd that he didn't say why they weren't there... lol

and he's a complete LIAR saying QPR were never supposed to perform on AI night two.
Pasted directly from his website's Queen News Section entry "**Wed 12 Apr 06** AMERICAN IDOLS: QUEENS FOR A WEEK":
Tonight is yet again Queen night on American Idol – Queen + Paul Rodgers will be playing a song on the elimination show, which airs on Fox at 8:30 Eastern.
Thats from his own site, so why is Brian saying there were never any plans for QPR to perform on the show? obviously there were...how dumb does he think we are?
Brian: Well, no - there was never a plan for us to perform on the AI show. We only wanted to do the coaching thing, (done at our sound-check in Anaheim), to give as much as we could to the participants ... ... not go into the TV studio and 'advertise' ourselves__
Seems pretty obvious to me that he wasn't gonna be there. And as others have said in the other idol threads, even when it was Elton John week, he never performed on it.
Methinks the Idol people wanted that little extra from them, but they just wanted to be coaching and helping them out.
Peace,
Adam.
Interesting..
I myself was very surprised to see hardly any Q+PR at all on Wednesday. I guess i was misled somehow into thinking that the Band were going to be shown performing some songs, even just pre-recorded footage would have been fine. I was a little dissapointed. I was "tricked" into watched an hour 1/2 tv show ( and a appaulingly bad one at that! Gad!!). I hate US televsion..it is absolute tripe and watching AI those two nights reminded me ten fold why i do not watch tv.
I did enjoy the Tuesday show, the best parts of course being the clips of the Band rehearsing and the performances. It was interesting to see how the contestants handled some of the songs. Wednesdays show was a total waste of time though...
I am very happy however to see that Queen albums are flying off the shelves everywhere now thanks to this broadcast. Guess tv is'nt all that bad then....( gack! Did i just say that?? Death to tv!!)
I'm glad things worked out the way they did.I really didn't want Queen performing on the American Idol stage with these guys .Instead the Idols went to them during their sound check got a few pointers and were sent on their merry way.I think Queen kept their integrity while getting massive exposure, what a stroke of genius.
Yes, more Queen album sales, whoohoo.
I'm a fan of a contestant from an earlier season of AI, and I post on the fan board. I posted all week in their AI5 thread about Queen, Queen songs, etc. I also provided the link to Brian's soapbox.
I can say *for sure* that there are some at that board who are now buying Queen stuff.
:)
Oh. And one person on the board (who says she admittedly knows nothing about Queen) read Brian's last few Soapbox entries, and says "He's a class act."

The news article came from VH1. Not from the Queen camp.
Oh God yes....
Tv in OZ i hear is wonderful...well, except for all those damned US show reruns!
I like BBC tv too...there is some seriously wacky stuff on there. Whenever i am over in the UK i usually take a couple of hours or so to relax and check it out. Some of the stuff on there is truly bizarre, but many shows i adore ( like Doctor Who! )
Network TV is all the same. In the morning, international news is mixed with the latest medical news, cooking segments, and interviews with stars promoting their movies. During the day it is talk shows where stars promote their movies - or soap operas. At 6 pm you can find out, on 4 different channels, who shot who, which family's house burned down, how many traffic accidents there were, and which movies are starting in movie theatres this week. At 7:00 and 7:30 pm there are lots of entertainment news shows where stars promote their movies. Beginning at 8 pm, you have a choice of reality TV, hospital dramas, or crime shows. Then late at night, you have comedy/talk shows where stars promote their new movies.
Satelite/cable TV is wonderful, because you can see all the movies that the stars were promoting a year ago!
I only watch TV because the local TV stations employ hornbag weathergirls and newsreaders. Everything else is absolute shit. Whenever something good comes on TV, it's cancelled weeks later because it doesn't rate good enough. I don't bother with it anymore except for when I'm frisky and I want to watch Natalia Cooper read the weather.
