OMG! I LOOOOOVVVEEE THIS SONNNNNNGGG!!
WHEN I GOT QUEEN II I LISTENED TO IT ON REPEAT FOR LITERALLY AN HOUR!!!
I get chills...
The first time i heard it i had a tear in fact...
Its just amazing....
Yep this song is a beauty-and to this end its one I've requested when I shuffle from this mortal coil (at my age these things are much more real than some of you younger Queenies-no patronization here just me old!!) Along with a Dusty Springfield record (Think I'm Going Back). Maudlin I know but ever since my first play of Queen II this has probably been one of the tracks for me that stand out from a standout album-oh brought it when released and when I was at senior school-See I'm old...............
Damn, you guys made me want to hear this song now! I'm gonna have to get up, look for the CD, pop it into my CD player... So much work! I am so lazy... :-P

Hahahaha, when all I can just do is go on iTunes and click on the song I want! :P
Well, it's one of my 3 favourite Queen songs......:)along with Radio GA GA & I'm in love with my car. I have to agree with Poppy, BBC version is really something...
Yep... I think Brian has the magic going here. Everybody talks about how Freddie was the genius behind Queen, I disagree with that. I believe Brian was just as big, especially in the beginning of their career, than Freddie. I am a complete guitar freak, and I owe it all to the creative genius of Brian May. Freddie has the voice, and the performance, but Brian has the AX, and an awesome performance also. Remember, to be a rock band, you gotta have some nice guitar. I cant picture Freddie being as awesome as he was with say.. Keith Richards as Queens Guitarist. Ace Frehley? Nope. Eric Clapton? Nope...he's got the blues, but he cant rock like bri. The list continues...
Who is that "Freddie" dude, that keeps being mentioned in so many posts? An unknown member of Queen? Wasn't he the one with the pink shirt at the Wembley concert 1986? So many questions...
Doh... sorry I put the "Y" instead of the "IE." Even though it is pronounced the same, I understand the magnitude of my mess up. I've been watching a lot of A Nightmare of Elm films lately...between that, a lack of sleep, I might make a boo boo or two!

Whenever I have to write a poem for English, I always just want to stand up and sing White Queen or THe Prophet's song, they have very nice lyrics.
Truly a one of a kind! I always feel happy for those who discover it for the first time. It is yet another piece of evidence supporting the fact that Queen's best music, for the most part, are non-single, album tracks!
It's amazing when done live as well!
Yeah, it totally deserved it! But it did sadly lack that hit factor... I mean, the first time I heard this song, I wasn't blown away at all, I just thought it was an ordinary song. But when I took the time to really listen to it a few times, I finally realized how beautiful it really is.
I never bothered with Queen 2 as an album up until a few years ago, and upon hearing this song 'properly' then I fell in love with it. Definitely Brian's best ballad.
Brian's best work more like. Oh along with 39. White Queen is a magnificent song and a true highlight of the older shows. (1974,75,76,77). MASTERPIECE. Freddie, superb vocals.
It was part of the First EP release in 1977, but never a single in its own right.
Perhaps if the BBC version had been released as a single it would have taken off in the charts...just a thought.

Well, when there ever will be a boxset release of Queen including the BBC sessions (or else a complete BBC sessions album in its own right), this will be a perfect single to promote the set.
