for some reason I felt like putting this out there for you Queen fans. To me Kevin Gilbert was practically as ambitious and clever working in a studio as Queen, in his own way of course. He often did most everything himself playing most all the instruments and producing and everything, though some of this track does have a few other people on it as well. I think lots of you might enjoy his stuff which is pretty wide spread in styles and sounds.
this set of two songs are from one of the last projects he was working on. It was a concept piece with a theme about how vicious the recording industry can be when it comes to taking an artist and milking them dry of the thing that originally inspired them to be creative in the first place. Kevin unfortunately died before the recording was complete. The people he was working with decided to finish it and release it. It was supposedly practically done anyways but needed a few final tweaks.
The cd is called "the Shaming of the True". Even if you perhaps don't dig the first song please at least go to the second part (I put both songs into one mp3) The second part, at about 5:45, is an amazing vocal layering thing that I can pretty much guarantee most any Queen fan won't be disappointed with... link

I can't figure this out. I tried to get people to listen to something new and nobody has one bit of interest. Is it just me? Am I already that hated around here? Is it my description of what this is? Even a "I hate this...it sucks and so do you" would have been something. Heck, not even one person downloaded this. :-(
So I'll try one more time and bump this post back to the top just to watch it probably fall back down once again completely ignored. Oh well. But Mr Snow sure has gotten a lot of attention lately..heh. Maybe I should have said this song was about how Freddie Mercury raped and beat nuns and priests and stole candy from babies?! :-P
Sorry, billy :(
It's a good recording, IMO. Not something great, perhaps, but if I'd hear it on a compilation CD - I won't skip it at least :) Sounds like "Strange Frontier" meets with The Prophet's Song...
Thanks for checking it out, Serry.
I appreciate hearing your opinion. This is only a snippet of many cool things he's done. Did you by chance check out that second part with all the vocal layering and stuff? I think that's quite impressive myself and, IMO, would even measure it against some of Queens coolest vocal recording craftiness. I've never heard anything quite like it. Maybe I should have just put up that one piece instead of a whole 8+ minute thing.
anyways, thanks again for taking the time to look into it...
I don't think I've heard Strange Frontier. Is that a song or a band?
edit: now I see through a quick google search that it's a Roger Taylor song. Ok, have to look into that sometime.

if it might help spark your interest more I can tell you that his hair color varied between blonde and brown. :-D
but if you downloaded the song you would have an even better idea of who he is. link
