Hi guys.
Just a quick note to let you know of some great positive changes to this years convention.
I'm not sure if you have noticed over the years but the dance floor in the evenings at the Queen disco has been getting more & more empty. I remember back in the 90's when it was so busy you had to boogie on the carpet ?
Well Jackie has kindly asked myself to do some live DJ'ing this year. We'll be taking your specific requests all evening so the only Queen tunes you hear played are chosen by you and not by a member of the Pontins / Arena staff. This has to be great news as Queen fans naturally have the best taste.
In the evenings there will be requests forms dotted about the main ballroom so if you have a birthday, anniversary or website you want to promote, post the request at the front of the stage and it will be done !
Also, very much like Queen Radio, we will be running competitions with instant prizes truly worth winning so take it from us, the late evenings will really be spiced up this year and well worth staying up for.
Don't forget, it's your evening. You are the guest so it is paramount to us you let us know exactly what you want to hear and we will make it so !
4 weeks and counting. See you there !
PJ
P.S Don't forget Queen Radio is live 7 days a week 6pm-10pm. Follow the links @ link for more info.
No chance of that my good man but we are at the mercy of the fans so whatever gets requested will most certainly be played. If you have any favs, obscure or not, please please let us know on the evening :-)
PJ
Fair enough. Look out for a bit of paper with "just keep it varied, and hey, let's have some obscure stuff" written on it. Actually, I may photocopy it at work first, then hand them out over the weekend.
Cos otherwise we'll get
"Wayne requests You're My Best Friend for Waynetta, who he met last night" x300
"Don't Stop Me Now for the <insert name of obscure English town> crowd" x250
"Anything by Roger for any teenage girl" x150
"TATDOOL for th eolder ladies who like a good cry" x100
etc etc.
The only way to really improve it is for someone to be strong and keep the variety coming. Personally I think you could get away with sticking an iPod on shuffle and coming back 3 hours later....
Well all we can say is that the guests will have the final word on the exact choices of tunes played and not the random gestures of Mr Apple & his Pod.
If obscure tracks are requested, then that is exactly what will get played but hey, no point sitting in the corner and whining that your favs haven't been aired if you haven't posted your request.
You are all in charge so make it something special on this 21st year !
Embarrassingly, I have just tried this experiment at home, and eeeeeeehm....I was just wondering, how does one dance to Fairy Feller's etc.
Perhaps this is a reason why the dance floor is so empty...?
Merely some late night conjecture on my part...

Lots of Hot Space tracks. Those are easy to dance to :P

Oh God, now you're starting to sound like Smashey & Nicey.
