I've got it. It's in stereo, full frame picture, great picture quality, and okay sound.
The biggest niggle for me is that the synths in the mix are WAY too dominant. I don't know if it was like that on the night of the show, if that's what the audience heard, or if it was mixed that way for the DVD. It's by no means terrible, it's just jarring at first and sometimes seems to drown out Brian's guitar. Spike was on keyboards that tour...maybe he mixed the DVD.

yes I agree- Tie Your Mother Down is wrecked by it and it's awful when the synths try to impersonate voices on We Are The Champions. I don't know what they were playing at- why couldn't they have just left the old songs alone? They sorted it out in '86 thank goodness.
The sound is awful... the guitar is almost missing... the keyboards sucks... and the drum sound like... Erasure...
For me... Rock in Rio sounds more rock like...

Brian commented about that in an interview in a British magazine, iirc, several years ago. According to it, he thought that they shouldn't have released it but it's also one of their histories anyway.
As for me I like many other ones better than that, but I sometimes watch it for the special reason...anyway it's their LAST Tokyo concert in which they saw Freddie perform... :'-(

yes I can. Tie Your Mother Down had a piano synth underneath he guitar lines- the rip-roaring solo is barely audible because the mix favours the plastic rockabilly piano sound. Now I'm here has awful synths at the end of the intro and We Are The Champions has a faint keyboard in the background with more prominent "voice synths" at the start of the chorus, that sound appalling (You can just about here them at Wembley too but a lower down in the mix). They even appear on Somebody To love "I try and I try and I try etc."

There was that as well but I would have preferred another guitarist. I never like the bone-headed mentality amongst some fans; "no extra musicians; they should play all the instruments themselves." The Magic tour was crying out for a second guitarist- in a stadium you casn't get away with one, not for a supposedly hard rock band.
