Don't know if I'm the first to post on this... But as was announced, there will be a Queen night on American Idol next Tuesday. How much are people willing to bet that the band will be making a surprise appearance on the Vote-results show. What makes me wonder is... a) April 12th is an off-day (no concert on the QPR tour. b) The news says the show will be a special ONE HOUR long episode where the final 8 will be performing a QUEEN medley. c) Brian is hinting at something on his Soapbox. |

They took shot at Anaheim, Arrowhead Pond befor the show. for this they fly from San Diego after the show and landed L.A. stayed in Santa Monica Hotel and came to Pond 11am that morning! Yes. they played!! So Don't miss it next Tuesday!! |
CharlieG 06.04.2006 08:04 |
Supposedly, they ran a teaser last night. The whole band didn't fly to LAX right after the San Diego gig - Danny drove up from San Diego with us, and we spent the day at a couple of our favorite pubs and our favorite sushi bar in SoCal. |
PieterMC 06.04.2006 08:12 |
The teaser showed the band rehearsing with the AI contestants on stage. No idea what they sounded like as they played the studio version of WWRY during the clip. |

Lately, for those of you who don't watch, they have been having experts coach the singers each week: Stevie Wonder, Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers. So, Brian and Roger will be the "rock experts" - coaching and giving advice to the contestants. This is like hitting the lottery for those poor kids in my opinion. Last night Mandissa - the power gospel singer - was voted off. She would have been able to tackle a more difficult song such as Bo. Rhap. or Somebody to Love. I think that now Chris - the rock singer - will steal the show and put himself in the lead. |
fredhartman 06.04.2006 10:39 |
Well it wouldn't be a surprise since the AI website, and this website both say Queen will be performing on the results show. |

Hankster 06.04.2006 11:36 |
Queenonline.com allready stated that the 8 finalists performed with QPR @ American Idol. Next Tuesday it will be shown on TV. I guess it's Rock You and Champions at the end of the show, with the 8 finalists as backgroundsingers :| |

Mr Faron Hyte wrote:I agree. Roger is just too cool. But I think he will enjoy being on TV in front of - (what?) 30 million or so viewers. Anyway, both of them do have some experience lately with young hopefuls - with the casting of all their productions of WWRY. So, Roger might be better with this exercise in patience than most of us would think. I'm so looking forward to it.Donna13 wrote: So, Brian and Roger will be the "rock experts" - coaching and giving advice to the contestants.I think that part of the show will be hilarious - not so much for Brian, who I'm sure will become overly involved in trying to coach them and will probably volunteer to produce all their albums, but because of Roger, who I'm sure will be miserable having to make nice and not say what he really thinks about a lot of the performers, which was probably "you guys really suck" - lol |

PlanetMercury15 06.04.2006 17:06 |
Yes, the contestants are extremely lucky, but also I'm going to laugh the entire time watching the idols try to sing Freddie Mercury! |
PlanetMercury15 06.04.2006 17:07 |
And also Freddie's ashes will probably explode having to hear those idols trying to imitate his beautiful voice which no one will ever do oh this episode is going to be downright hilarious |

I wonder how Simon will act and if he and Brian will butt heads. I'd be willing to be though that Simon has a great amount of respect for Brian and Roger. Roger and Simon will probably go out and get hammered after the show!! |

I have now TIVO'd everything to do with American Idol. I saw Mandisa (the gospel singer who got voted off this week) interviewed on "Idol Extra", which is a behind the scenes show on Fox's "Reality" channel. Idol Extra picks up right where the show leaves off on performance nights and they go backstage for interviews. Mandisa said she had practiced Who Wants To Live Forever, but now she won't get to sing it. When asked if she was a Queen fan, she said, "Now I am." They also interviewed the show's voice coach. She said the contestants had worked with Queen and Paul Rodgers. She said the greatest challenge with the Queen music was that the contestants were hyperventilating due to excitement (I don't know if she meant all the time or just while around Queen and Paul Rodgers). When asked if the contestants would get to perform with Queen on the show, she said that she wasn't telling. We would have to tune in to find out. Randy Jackson (one of the judges) was also asked about the Queen music. He said it would be hard to sing and that he was wondering who was going to do Bo. Rhap. |

are queen backing the singers throughout the show instead of the house band? or just playing in the results show? if so we could hear bri and rog playing some old songs they haven't played for a while.. maybe now im here! |
e-man 07.04.2006 14:11 |
am I the only one who thinks this is selling out??? brian recently had a thing on his site where he was very negative about rockstar, american idol and reality tv. sure, this will be better promotion than anything else prior to this current tour - but I still feel this is selling out... each of these ppl are gonna sing with Queen?? my favourite band as a live karaoke act on a crappy reality program??? :( :( :( :( I've supported everything Queen & PR has done so far, but this is a stupid move. credibility? no trace of it... :( |

never said anything about this being the first time they're selling out ;) Five, the pepsi thing etc are good examples of selling out - but if this turn out to be what some ppl thing; Brian and Roger, from one on the biggest bands the world has ever seen, and will se, being backing musicians to a group of amateurs, most of which will be forgotten before christmas - it's very very sad. however, if Queen&PR play a song themselves, with the contestants as choir, in the same manner as the WWRY cast - I guess it's not that bad, but still - appearing on a show that has more to do with fame than anything that has do with music, is not good |

Stroke of genius putting Queen on the show. This is the perfect vehicle to put their music to a whole new audience .Sell out? maybe but who cares at this point, right now you want to get your product out to as many people as possible. This move just might bring them back for another tour now that more people(younger people)know who they are and that they are still around in some form or another.30 million people you would be a fool not to jump at the opportunity .There's a fine line between shelling out and just being stupid and not going for it. |
Crankenstein 07.04.2006 15:13 |
I may be wrong, but both American Idol shows this week are live, correct? If so, you won't be seeing any live QPR on Tuesday as they are playing in Portland, OR that night. At least they better be because I will be there looking for them LOL. |
Sherwood Forest 07.04.2006 15:14 |
if they are on that show this will be the first time in history that i wish i was on that show |

If they're not content to rest on their laurels and continue playing to the already converted, then they'd be be fools not to jump at this. Brian and Roger can hold their noses if they have to (and the same goes for the rest of us), but they literally could not buy this kind of exposure and publicity. It's the single biggest publicity push they'll have had in America in 15 years. If its selling out, then sell away, gents. Life doesn't drop that kind of opportunity in your lap too often. |

i agree totally i went on the Americanidol.com website and they have a message board and so I wanted to see what these people were saying about Queen week and i gotta tell you guys these people dont know what the hell they are talking about most of them (no disrespect to any younger people on here intended) are about 13-15 years old and dont know a thing about Queen or there music or any of the songs ok so i felt a twinge, no a pang, no a downright stab of jealousy looking at Kellie Pickle grabbing ahold of Brian in the photo, but hey, I'm going to watch, because i love Queen and Q+PR i am glad they are featuring there music, I see it as a well deserved tribute long overdue these guys most of the people on that message board on AI are hoping for Prince and I did see one where they had hoped for the Rolling Stones as a week instead...Geez |

For anyone who's wondering, "is Queen + Paul Rodgers actually going to appear "live" on AI this week?" I emailed Cynthia Kereluk's assistant yesterday, asking whether the band would indeed appear live on the Wednesday results show (the band has a concert in Portland Tuesday night, so that night's obviously not a possibility). Here is her reply: "Hi John, We believe that the sound check will be aired on American Idol on Tuesday and maybe a few clips on Wednesday. Thanks XXXXXXXXX" So, unfortunately, the answer to the question is "no." My understanding is that the band's meeting with the AI contestants was filmed on Sunday, April 2, the day after the San Diego show. ;^) |

e-man - I absolutely agree with you. American Idol, Pop Idol and other international versions of this programme (Czech version included) are stupid. Queen will get a huge free promotion but I'm absolutely NOT happy about seeing my favourite rock band there. WWRY with 5ive, then WWRY with Britney, then this Idol... what comes next? |
