This is probably old news to most but Def Leppard and Journey are touring the US this summer and I'm a goin!!!! Anyone else? Should be a great concert. It's almost sold out in Cincinnati already. Let's go Stacks!!! |

Seeing Def Leppard was like watching Spinal Tap up on stage :-) |
Lisser 04.04.2006 11:11 |
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I lurrrrrve Journey and Def Leppard!!! LOL! |
PieterMC 04.04.2006 11:12 |
I enjoyed the show, but I kinda felt sorry for them at the same time :-) We did meet them after the show and get autographs. All except "sav" |
JustHisWife 04.04.2006 11:12 |
Yeap, we'll most likely be going. Already Bill and Cliffy were freaking out about it this weekend. That tells me we'll go... :-) |
Erin 04.04.2006 11:36 |
I'd love to see Def Leppard again. Journey doesn't have Steve Perry anymore though, right? |

Got lawn tix on Saturday. My wife and I saw them from the 3rd row in Dayton a few years back. Joe Elliot has the Dinner Lady Arms (old lady flaps), and the others just look OLD...though my wife did get to meet Phil Collen in Dayton last summer when they played the minor league parks. Joe cannot get it done anymore. |

Erin wrote: I'd love to see Def Leppard again. Journey doesn't have Steve Perry anymore though, right? No, but they found a carbon copy, who is uncannily similar to Perry. You could close your eyes, and you could NOT tell the difference. |

Erin, in July some time. |

Erin, in July some time. Did that once, not again with these guys. Better music to be heard, not seen close-up. We'll stay in the yard, with the stoners, and chill. If you haven't seen Journey live lately, every song now has a self-gratuitous 5 minute long guitar solo courtesy of Neil Schon. Painful... |

Yikes!! Thanks for that Stacks. I'll still go but glad you told me that. Thomas, no I'm not from the old south. I live in the Mid East but I enjoy making fun of southerners like Erin. :) |

Even though it's a co-headlining tour, I saw where Journey will be "opening" every show. Neil Schon said Def Leppard refused to do the tour unless they were the last to go on every night. Should be a pretty good show. If I go, I'll probably drive down right before the concert to get tickets. Riverbend's been my good luck charm in doing that. I've done that at the last 7-8 shows I've went to there and never got worse than 10th row. If they have some good ones, I'll grab 'em...if not, oh well. I'm waiting for the Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers/Pearl Jam tour to hit Riverbend later this year. That is gonna be killer!!!!! |
Haystacks Calhoun 04.04.2006 17:34 |
Riverbend is an easy place to score front 10 rows prior to show. I've done that for quite a few shows. |
Shay 04.04.2006 17:47 |
Haystacks Calhoun wrote: Riverbend is an easy place to score front 10 rows prior to show. I've done that for quite a few shows.Yeah, and even if you can't get good seats at the window, there's always a ton of scalpers around the Coney Island area. The only time I wasn't able to get within the first 10 rows was at the Kiss Farewell Tour in 2001 but I ended up buying 8th row dead center off a scalper for $10 more than face value. The worst thing about Riverbend is security. Riverbend has to have the most anal security in the U.S. for concerts. You're not allowed to sit more than 5 minutes in your car after you pull up or else they'll come and peck on your window to tell you to get out. |
Micrówave 04.04.2006 18:07 |
Journey's new album wasn't that bad. The new Steve can sing, and quite a lot similarity to Steve Perry, but there is a difference.
I am going to the Dallas show, because I haven't seen the new Journey.
For some reason Steve Perry was that magical ingredient. Jonathan Cain had Open Arms before he met Steve, but Steve made it work. Just like Neal had Stone In Love. I only hope the new guys can mix better than what they've done so far.
and if Joe Elliot really held out for top billing, then Def Leppard sucks. How can you hold-out on an "old-timer's tour?" That's kinda like Brett Favre holding out for more money and commitment.
Ouch! Sorry about that QOW.
SHAY wrote You're not allowed to sit more than 5 minutes in your car after you pull up or else they'll come and peck on your window to tell you to get out.Yes it makes much more sense to drink and smoke prior to leaving and driving to the show than after you get there! |

The only time I've ever been hassled in the lot is when I've been sitting outside of my car with an open beer. I've learned that if you stay in your car, you're fine. For there, though, I usually drive a van with tinted windows, and sit in the back and get the party going.... You know, the water bong bolted to the floor!!! |

You know, the water bong bolted to the floor!!!I've been hassled twice there--and neither times were we drinking in the car. We got there a little early so we thought we'd just hang out in the parking lot for a few minutes before the show. Wrong. Both times, one of their infamous cops on a bike came up to the window and told us both to go on and get inside. It appeared as if they were going around to everybody they saw in their car and doing that. The last time it happened, I'm sure the cop smelled a nice aroma when I rolled down the window since my friend had just finished smoking a doobie about 2 minutes before we pulled in the lot....lol |
Erin 04.04.2006 19:30 |
What's the big deal about staying in your car for a bit? :-S |
Lisser 04.04.2006 20:09 |
I dunno what the big deal is but I know for Buffet they let you do whatever the hell you want in the parking lot!!! Shay, I'm gonna do what you are gonna do about getting tickets there. I don't think Def Leppard and Journey are in danger of selling out, but then again, you never know. Journey were VERY popular here. Def Leppard, not far behind either. I'm not crazy about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers but I'll def go see Pearl Jam with you!!! Kick ass!!! |
Erin 04.04.2006 21:06 |
Pearl Jam is GREAT live!! |

Maybe we could meet before the concert and go down together and try to get tickets before the show. That way we could get seats next to each other. Since Haystacks is going, maybe we all could meet up at BW3's or Applebee's by NKU before the show and have a couple drinks. I'm not crazy about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers but I'll def go see Pearl Jam with you!!! Kick ass!!!The dates haven't been announced yet but the word is that some of the dates of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' summer tour are with Pearl Jam and some with John Mayer. I just pray that Riverbend gets a Pearl Jam date 'cos I have no desire whatsoever to see John Mayer...UGH!!! |

I saw Def leppard in Birmingham on the adrenalize tour in 92. I think that was pretty much the last anyine really heard of them over here. A bit of a shame, cos they used to be a really good band. |

I'm gonna see them the 10th of June :D |
Lisser 05.04.2006 09:35 |
I'm sure I'll have Bingo Wings in a few also, as much as I play! LOL!! I had no idea there was an Applebee's by NKU, shows how long it's been since I've been there. I get mail all the time from them asking me to "give back." Give back my ass, my dad paid them tens of thousands of dollars!! I think we've given enough! But yea, let's do that!!! I can't wait! |
Haystacks Calhoun 05.04.2006 09:37 |
I wouldn't walk across the street to see John Mayer.... I've only ever been hassled by the Golf Cart cops at Riverbend, at a Metallica show in 1994. |
Shay 05.04.2006 13:19 |
Lisser wrote: I had no idea there was an Applebee's by NKU, shows how long it's been since I've been there.I think they built that Applebee's when I was a senior in '01. I take that exit everytime I go home to visit my parents to cut over to the AA Highway. They've closed the Hardees across the road from NKU and turned it into a bank. About 2-3 miles down the road from campus, they've built a new shopping center with an O'Charley's and Longhorn Steakhouse, a new Kroger, Home Depot, and Kohl's. |
