I busted out laughing when I saw the title of this thread... I think Freddie said it to the crowd in Montreal 1981 on the "We will rock you" DVD that was released in 2002 I believe, cause the crowd was really dead that night...I dont know what song they were performing, I'll have to watch the DVD again... On all the live DVD's that I have, Fred is always calling someone a 'fucker' lol... |

They were doing Jailhouse Rock. Originally I thought Brian called him over to tell him to tone it down - the crowd was horrid and Freddie was trying really hard to get them going. However, someone here - sorry, can't recall who - said Brian called him over to say he wanted to continue the song, but Freddie said, "No we're going to end it." And so they did. End it, I mean. |

the thing brian says to freddie, is 'one more', as in another run through of the verse. freddie then says 'huh? we're ending...?'. brian then smiles and shakes his head at freddie's mistake. freddie then doesnt know when they're ending and if you look you can see he has to watch roger very closely to see whne it's comng to and end. just proves that even freddie *god* mercury can make mistakes. |

I think of the 4 members of Queen, Freddie was by far the least patient.... I think it came down to the fact that by the time Jailhouse Rock was playing, they were already 90 minutes into the concert, they were still rocking, and Fred's voice was still sounding as good as it did when the show started (many vocalist have lost strength and clarity by this far in a show)... the band was still tight....yet these dumb asses in Canada that night acted like there was a 12 inch magic dildo placed on their seat for them to sit on, and they weren't getting up for nothing. Just because Freddie's fans prefer to acknowledge the amazing things he did in life, doesn't mean we think he was "godly". In fact, it's the bloopers of life that make him more accessible. I, for one, have too much respect for Freddie to ever think of him as 'god'. I see him as the human he was - with faults and genius at play in every move. |

I don't think much of the crowd either. If I were one of those people, I'd look back at that gig now and wish I'd made more effort! But, according to the director's commentary he said the concerts were specially arranged for the filming, the three Montreal dates were tagged on at the end of the tour and the audience were somewhat put off by all the cameras set up all over the place. He also said Freddie kept apologising to the audience about the film crew and the intrusion BUT the "move it you fuckers" seems to come from pure frustration at a subdued crowd. It makes me laugh everytime I see it though, I can't imagine Brian saying such a thing! |

And I am very much aware of my "filiation" (sic) with Quebec. At least ONE of my grandparents was born there. The reason I dislike Quebec is because of how I was treated there because I didn't speak French, and a few other things. The people that abused me (physical abuse included), which come to mind now, were especially those in the school system, including the schoolbus driver I had to be stuck with for 2 years on my route who was a total fucking asshole. I don't deny that Quebec does have some culture (I agree with you on the Calgary Stampede count - apparently the Just For Laughs festival originated in Montreal, did it not?), and not everyone I met there or from there has been all but bad apples, but it's the way I've been treated there compared to B.C. or Alberta, that left bad impressions on me. Perhaps it might've been only that specific part that I lived in (Rouyn-Noranda), but it left me with an impression that a lot of Quebecers aren't very nice people at all. And the recent problems in me getting my birth certificate and their stuck-up attitude the one time I spoke with an official from L'Directeur de etat civil (or however you spell it) on the phone was not pleasant either. I DID manage to finally get it recently, but only after a few months of having to re-filling out papers again. (And DON'T ask what happened, I'm not going into detail) But anyways, I don't know that I can ever be comfortable knowing I'm part French-Can |
