The DVD is excellent, particularly given the quickness with which it was released. That short timeframe didn't allow for much editing, enhancing, etc. The video quality isn't always great, but the sound is surprisingly good. What you hear on the DVD, especially with surround sound really cranked up, is remarkably similar to the feel of the live concert.
One of the things I really like about the video portion of the DVD is seeing the audience involvement. The audience at Sheffield was very much into Queen, knew all the lyrics, knew the hand-claps for Radio Ga Ga, and in general participated in the performance much more than do American audiences. In effect, it's pretty apparent they appreciate Queen in larger numbers than we do here in the U.S. The video did a great job of capturing the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd.

... even though, according to many people who were there, the audience at Sheffield wasn't nearly as good as the audience in most other concerts of the British leg!
i have just seen i want it all in youtube..ROTC is really amazing i think..it is definately not like an ordinary tour concert but not all concerts are supposed to become dvd!!! i think the dvd is a very modern and i don't think q+pr is a terrible idea..i wish i could see them :))
I do like ROTC...but I saw them in Cleveland and they were very much tighter there!!!...Greatest concert I ever saw!!!...Freddie we love you!!!!...Ciao!!!
I really like the ROTC DVD, though at times the amount of white that the band is wearing clashes with the lights, camera, etc... Watch it and you'll see what I mean.
I'll tell you this though... the best thing about it is the 5.1 Dolby option. Wembley 86' is great and all, but no 5.1. I put ROTC in my dvd player and between the incredible picture on my 50" SXRD and the sound pushed out by my Marantz tuner, I was blown away. I immediately skipped right to WWRY and cranked it up as loud as I dared without blowing a channel in my tuner or my speakers... and it shook the house!!! SWEET!!!!!

I agree. Much better and tighter now. (just watched it again this evening before band practice with my drummer.)
I didn't think of it at Chicago or St Paul, but if you run around frantically at the show, craning your head back and forth, it's a fairly good representation of the choppy camera edits on ROTC. Will try it in Seattle.
