This topic was probably brought up before,so pardon me if I fall behind on some topics. First off,Queen is one of the man musician based movies you'd think they or VH1 would come up with by now.(As well as Pink Floyd,Kiss, and a few others.)I mean they did with Meatloaf,Beatles,Monkees,Hammer and even Def Leapord. But who knows..maybe sometime this year. But anyways,if they made a movie about Freddie and the men of Queen, who would you like to see play the man himself and the others. Right now,I can't think off the top of my head of any to play Freddie, but i'd like to hear what you think. |
RETROLOVE 28.03.2006 04:24 |
No! No! No! I would not want VH1 to do a movie about Queen, that would ruin their legacy and the mystic about them, especially Freddie...actually Eric McCormack, the guy that plays Will on 'Will and Grace' was suppose to play Freddie in a movie about his life...but I dont know what the devil happened...that Def Lepeord movie was horrible, I actually saw that, on a very boring, rainy day might I add, lol...so was the MC Hammer movie, lol The only actor I could see playing Freddie would be EWAN MCGREGOR!!! I think thats the only actor that could pull him off, honestly...now for Brian, Rog, and John, I havent got a clue, lol...but Fred's role would be tough to cast! |

Well, it is almost universally agreed on this board that Johnny Depp should play Freddie. I have a Maths teacher who looks a lot like Roger, but more like an 80 year old Roger. And there was a guy who looked a lot like Brian at my school, but he left a couple of years ago. John, I dunno. Just the back of his head required, anyway. |

I wouldn't mind seeing a movie about Queen, heck maybe they'll do something like walk the line and Rey for Freddie Mercury It'll be called "Mercury" Tom Cruise will play Freddie Mercury xD!! JK |

Id direct the movie, call it legacy, johnny depp as Freddie, orlando bloom as roger, dunno about the rest though. |
skiqueen 28.03.2006 14:22 |

Sherwood Forest 28.03.2006 14:29 |
VH1 is a good channel to chose to do it MTV would suck it up and there are no more big main channels that still play good music |

Angelina Jolie's brother, James Haven is an actor and a Freddie look-alike. First time I saw him on CSI, I thought I was looking at a young Freddie. He'd be perfect for the role - give him some prosthetic teeth, brown contacts and set him loose - he does Broadway plays, so he can certainly sing - check him out! link link |

The Lost Queen 28.03.2006 14:42 |
Man, in that second picture he looks exactly like Freddie! But if you count that guy away, then... -I think Johnny Depp or Ewan McGregor could play Freddie -Sean Penn looks a lot like John (I'm probably the only one with this opinion) and he's a good actor, so.. -Jake Gyllenhaal could (dy his hair blond) play Roger (NOT Orlando Bloom, please!! That man can't act even if his life depended on it) -Brian, I don't know... Tom Hanks? I dunno, really... George Clooney is probably my favourite actor, but I can't see him as any of the guys... Maybe Roger |
Mercuryworks 28.03.2006 17:03 |
I thought of this movie but Ray's Life and Cash's Life were kinda more eventful than Queen's. Why dont one of you guys write some big events in Queen history. That should be included |
kagezan1313 28.03.2006 17:59 |
Meh, the story of a whole group would be too hard to tie together coherently unless you started the opening scene with Brian posting a note for a "Ginger Baker / Mitch Mitchell type drummer" on the board at Imperial College - to start at childhood, they'd have to call it "Freddie" and start with him, then have the other guys come in as supporting actors later. The film would end with a re-enactment of the Tribute Concert. Hmm...I might have to start writing. |

JKOh lawd Jesus not Tom Cruise, please lord no!!! I could just picture him jumping up and down on Oprah's couch again: Oprah: So Tom, I hear you going to be doing a bio on the late great singer and frontman of the british rock band Queen, Freddie Mercury. So, how do you feel about all this, and was it tough fitting into the role...? Tom Cruise: Oh yes, but I pulled it off... (stands up on couch and starts jumping around) Freddie Mercury is awesome, Freddie Mercury is awesome!!! Crowd starts cheering... (although I think the man is crazy, I'd have to agree wiht him on Freddie Mercury, lol) |

I didn't really mean Vh1 to do a Queen movie literally,I meant they as to one of the more major movie companies, like they did with Ray and Walk the Line. And you're right about that pic of angeline's brother,he'd be perfect as Freddie in a movie! Sean Penn looks a litle like John Deacon someone said? Hmmmmmmm...I wonder now that you mention it. |
The Lost Queen 29.03.2006 05:02 |

akindofmagic 29.03.2006 19:42 |
well, we have James Haven(man, he really looks like our hero) to play Freddie andf Sean Penn to be Deacy... what about Brian and Roger? For Brian i should say from Jarvis Cocker Pulp(amazingly looklike on "bad cover band" video) and for roger i should say Kiefer Suderland. |

This won't help... but... We watched an Economics movie with one "John Stossel" in it... and at 3/4 view (and generally every other time) he looked exactly like Freddie Mercury. I couldn't help but giggle in the back of the room. But, on topic... ...but if Tom Cruise played Freddie, he would have to find an EVEN YOUNGER girl! I don't know... I like good cinema as well as anyone, but with celebrities, I always feel uncomfortable prying/spying into their lives. I remember even being a little nervous going to read an interview with Freddie because I was so afraid that he would sound like one of those fluff-brained musicians... you know the type (having read an interview with "Tyson Ritter" - first time I'd heard of him -... that's the type). If someone did make a movie, I would hope they did focus on Queen, as a band. And by that, I mean, not just Freddie. I know that would make a lovely bid for whatever awards... but, really. The awards have yet to learn there's more to life than death. Geh. That sounded too awful cynical. But, as I still don't really have a point... I would have to vote, if they did such a thing, for Johnny Depp as Freddie - Depp is one of the few actors I deeply respect (he has the amazing talent to make you believe he IS the character). And ANYONE but Orlando Bloom as Roger. Oh, that Orlando fellow just bothers me... His acting is rather Keano Reeves "Whoa", and I just never did fancy him for his looks... |

If there was a Queen movie, who should it be written/directed by? How about Spike Lee? |

Seriously, Ang Lee would probably be good, though. Clint Eastwood?? (I'm talking about the director now =) Tim Burton...? No, no, I changed my mind...
