Hi folks..! Do you make an idea on how much money Roger spent (and keeps on spending)on his drum kits..? Wich one is (was) the most expensive...? In my oppinion, the most expensive is the one he used in 77's concerts... but i don't really know, so i'm leavin' that to you... =D |

Probably at that point Ludwig simply sent the kits to him. |

The Original Mrs Taylor wrote: Hes still gets kits sent to him now ...Yeah, that's right, i forgot that... But anyway, how much these kits costs..? I mean the whole kit, with drums, cymbals, hardware and everything that goes with it... |

I would have to say his '86 Kit b/c...he used triggers on them and he used a Roland Octapad that actually had no internal sound so it had to be fed through a module that actually created a sound...If u listen to Under Pressure from Wembley '86...he was hitting everything and it was creating a preprogrammed sound that him and his drum tech knew about. The '77 kit had a lot of toms and even roto toms...but his '86 kit needed technology that was very new and expensive at the time...so that is why I think the '86 kit, though smaller was much more expensive!...Peace!!! |

Yeah for sure... Both triggers and mudules are so expensive... But here in Brazil, the normal drums are more expensive than the electronic drums... the cymbals are even more expensive... Ludwig drums (like Roger's) are quite hard to find, and so are the Zildjian cymbals he uses... Electronic drums are cheaper around here, so i thought his '77 drums would be more expensive... After all, i want Roger's drums!!!!!!! =D |
All I Hear Is Radio Gaga 27.03.2006 20:06 |
I read somewhere he had a snare drum worth like 9,000$ or something... |

Probably the one he used in 76. Think about it, he had the 2 small toms on the 10" tom. Then he had the other 2 toms. Then he had the floor toms which were 18" and 20" then the 12" and 13" toms over the floor toms. With the 26" bass. Then add up the electics. Then add up the 7 cymbals which a lot were Paiste which are already expensive as it is. Whew so yeah probably his 76-77 kit. |
lozitopj 27.03.2006 23:34 |
The toms that Roger was using in the latter 70's were expensive...but triggers and the octapad were definitely more expensive b/c they were had been in a few years of existence...So I do agree that maybe his acoustical drums were more expensive in 76-77...but overall his '86 kit was more...Peace!!!! |

I guess i can answer this pretty well if you check my profile! The kits are effectively more expensive each year as the price the companies charge seems to go up every twelve months! For expample his ride cymbal is now £260, new but would have been about £50 back in the 70's My estimate is the current kit costs approx £8,000 Bass drum is about £800-£900 Toms range from £200 - £450 The hardware is very expensive the ludwig boom stands are £89 each Cymbals range from £180 17" crash to the Ride at £260, the hi hats are £250 approx and the stand £150, the bass pedal retails at £375 snare drum is £500 Then you have flight cases and mics! Don't forget he will also have spares, with sticks at £11 per pair it gets expensive! |

Wooow What an expensive kit... But Roger certainly knows how to deal with it... ;) Thanks, Togg..! =D |

Wow Togg, what are the specs on that bad boy? |

Same as Roger, cira 1980 however there are a few updates as per the current kit, I have the DW foot pedal and all Zildjian cymbals, I also have added a wood block by the side of the hi hat which I use on Crazy Little Thing instead of the cowbell. sizes are 10x9, 13x12, 14x14, 16x16, 18x16 with a snare 14x6 1/2 the bass is the only different drum to Roger it's 24x14. all Ludwig classic maple not forgetting the rototoms as well. It started out as a project to copy Rogers kit back in 1980, however over the years I have added other smaller drums 13x9 and 14x10 for example, plus smaller cymbals from time to time depending on the type of music I have to play. I have recently added Zildjians 'crash of doom' which is a large cymbal 20" crash that sound rather like a gong, which I now have under the china 24". Sometimes my band have been known to do the Queen tribute stuff at a gig and in those cases I set up as per Roger, however most of thetime it's a hybrid of stuff allowing me as much flexability as poss. If you want a better look there is a picture in the fan pictures section somewhere. Hope that helps. |

He solely used Zildjian K cymbals save for The Miracle period where he went back to Paiste save the video for The Miracle's title cut. |
Togg 29.03.2006 04:33 |
Indeed he did, I have been converted to 'K's' in the last few years, from 1980 to 89 I was playing largely Paiste myself, I have also experiemented with Sabian, however the 'K's' are just amazing, I have a full set now, the 22" K ride is stunning. |

Gordie Howe 31.03.2006 18:17 |
Ah nice man. I have the Crash of Doom too. I used to try and replicate his set but after a while it started getting uncomfortable for me. But nice set and sweet sizes. 24" chinas are always fun as hell. |
