Apologies if this has been covered before. But was just wondering what you all thought was the best track Queen made that was never released as a single - here in the UK that is. I remember when The Miracle was released that 'Was it all worth it' had single written all over it. I began imagining what the video may be like, waited for it to be released but couldnt believe it when it never was, instead sub-standard material like Invisible Man and Scandal were released instead. So Was It All Worth It would probably be top of my list, followed perhaps by 'I cant live with you'. Anyone else? |

"Teo Torriate" springs to my mind - although it was actually released as a single in Japan. Why this great ballad (one of Queen's best) was never released as a single in the UK or US (or Europe) makes me wonder. Not a really unusual song and also very radio/chart-friendly. |

Ride The Wild Wind (instead of Headlong) In fact, polish radio played Ride The Wild Wind instead of Headlong and it climbed to no.14 when Fred was still alive. After his passing RTWW hit no.1 for four weeks. |

hmm... few good ones: Sail Away Sweet sister Life is Real One Year of Love Made in Heaven(queen version) i'm not talking about personal favs, but songs that would be very good singles, possibly reaching top 5 |
Jan78 24.03.2006 18:27 |
I guess Ride The Wild Wind would have been a bit too much like the resurrection of Breakthru, right? I think they should have released more singles in the beginning of their career. Let's say My Fairy King or even Nevermore. Rock It would have made a nice single too. Jan |
The Freddie Bigotes 24.03.2006 18:32 |
Was It All Worth It. You Take My Breath Away. Life Is Real. Ride The Wild Wind. Sail Away Little Sister. But the single, single, single that never was is "Was It All Worth"... |
Adam Baboolal 24.03.2006 18:48 |
Definitely >Was It All Worth It< for the one that never was. But on a more interesting note, Let Me Live, imo, should've been released from the MIH album first. I know there will be plenty that say it's a hack job track, but for me, it's a track that many joe-public would like. Peace, Adam. |

Promoting the "album with the last songs Freddie recorded" with a track from 1987/88 wasn't the greatest idea either. But MIH was just a compilation album anyway. Jan |

Lester Burnham 24.03.2006 22:26 |
March Of The Black Queen was an even bigger gamble than Bohemian Rhapsody - no way were they going to release that. The record company would have laughed them out of the office if it was proposed. As for best single that never was, Was It All Worth It should have been the final single from The Miracle, with You And I a close second. Would've liked to have seen Keep Passing The Open Windows, too. |

Long Away. With a video and some airplay (plus of course, playing it on tour!), it'd have been a major hit. |
TheImpossibleMan 25.03.2006 03:54 |
My Melancholy Blues, Long Away, and Stone Cold Crazy are all good songs that could've gotten serious airplay. |
Munchsack 25.03.2006 06:45 |
I would say SCC, and also Dragon Attack, LOML, Staying Power, I Can't Live With You etc etc. |
Munchsack 25.03.2006 06:48 |
BTW, I know LOML was released as a Live single in '79, or whenever it was, but if it had been released instead of, FE, YMBF, in the wake of BoRhap, it could easily have got to No. 1. It is easily worth a Number 1 single, but it's probably too late now. |

The Millionaire Waltz Was It All Worth It Need Your Loving Tonight Dragon Attack I Go Crazy I don't think any of the songs mentioned with non-Freddie vocals would have worked. What would he have done in the videos? If there had been alternative versions of Long Away, Sail Away Sweet Sister, Sleeping On The Sidewalk and Rock It, with Freddie's vocals, these would have made great singles, and also highly collectable, had they not been included on the albums. |
bitesthedust 26.03.2006 05:40 |
I think back when Love Of My Life was released as a single it should have been a double a-side with '39 (both songs from Live Killers). |

Yes it's a good song, but it's not really a mainstream song, you have to think of that too ;) Songs like '39 and Long Away are much 'lighter' so would easy to pick up on the radio. At least, that's how I look at this topic ;) |

I'm going to mention Living On My Own. If I'm not mistaken this was a single, and more than once - but GUH I hate that remix of it... They should've taken his vocals and given it instrumentation somewhere between AOBTD and You Don't Fool Me, but heavier. It would've been great. |
Eilrach 28.03.2006 10:34 |
Zebonka12 - a Queened rock version of Living on My Own would be interesting although I adore the original and think it should have stayed that way. As for best none UK single (though picking one is hard), I would say It's Late with an editted instrumental maybe, or Dancer (so much better than BL but believe it or not BL is well known and enjoyed elsewhere in the world like Japan!) |
john bodega 28.03.2006 10:43 |
"Zebonka12 - a Queened rock version of Living on My Own would be interesting although I adore the original and think it should have stayed that way." I haven't heard the original in it's entirety, all I know is I dislike the one on GHIII. :D |
Daniel vZ 28.03.2006 11:02 |
The one on GHIII is much better than the single version they released around'93 (I think??) |
john bodega 29.03.2006 10:16 |
I thought it was the same thing! See I can never remember which version is which because I've never heard the whole original. But basically - in every version I've ever heard, the only thing I've liked is Freddie's vocal. I think a pretty spiffy song could be made from that. |
Eilrach 29.03.2006 10:40 |
Zebonka12 Are you saying that you have never heard the original from the Mr Bad Guy Album? 2 and a half minutes of very 80's pop beat with an arpeggiated bassline? Find it! Borrow it! Steal it if you have to 'cos you can't compare a remix until you've 'eard the original! Or so I think. |
Winter Land Man 29.03.2006 13:21 |
Put Out The Fire and Tear It Up should of been released in the USA. Both were on the radio. Stone Cold Crazy should of been released as well, as that too, was played. |

I love every version of living on my own, My least favorite version of this song is the one on the GH3. "Was it all worth it" would have made a great single. |
john bodega 30.03.2006 10:03 |
Just listened to a short sample from allofmp3.com Meh - I've never been one for 80's synth stuff... in fact while I loved the compositions on Mr Bad Guy, I really never dug the instrumentation. I wish they'd released an acapella of this song in the Solo Collection. I love the Let's Turn it On one, and the piano+vocal version of I Was Born To Love You is pretty cool... but this song would've been fun to play with, acapella'd. |
Daveboy35 30.03.2006 12:20 |
I would defintely say Was it all worth it would be the best single that never was off the miracle and should have replaced The invisible man, as for one more i would have to go for The millionaire waltz. |

Peace All Well 1. One Year Of Love Its Like The Best Song On The AKOM ALbum Umm...not the best song on "Magic" by a long shot! Try One Vision, Princes Of The Universe and Who Wants To Live Forever. Anyway, it's hard to come up with just one single. How about one from each album that should have been? Queen - Liar (I think would've done better than Keep Yourself Alive although both songs are good) Queen II - I think Seven Seas Of Rhye is the only real single song on the album except for maybe White Queen Sheer Heart Attack - Stone Cold Crazy definitely A Night At The Opera - Was Love Of My Life a single? If not, it should've been A Day At The Races - Teo Torriatte News Of The World - It's Late or My Melancholy Blues Jazz - Jealousy (I think this was a single in the US but nowhere else) The Game - Need Your Lovin' Tonight. Perfect follow up to Crazy Little Thing Called Love Flash Gordon - The Hero Hot Space - Put Out The Fire The Works - Keep Passing The Open Windows A Kind Of Magic - Princes Of The Universe as a worldwide single not just US Single The Miracle - Was It All Worth It instead of The Invisible Man Innuendo - I Can't Live With You Made In Heaven - Mother Love instead of You Don't Fool Me |
