Here are the attendance figures for the shows that i have access to so far.all numbers are tickets sold and not actual attendance. Buffalo-8,581 Pittsburgh-5,021 Atlanta(duluth)-9,060 Washington dc-13,464 Philadelphia-12,168 Toronto-13,965 Miami-8,103 Jacksonville 4,560 New York(nassau)-8,103 some of these will be in Billboard mags concerts gross lists with Toronto, atlanta,Philly and Washington near the top grossing shows of the week or bi weekly as some report. |
stateside fan 21.03.2006 21:39 |
also note that Philly and toronto will be seen as sellouts because even though seats were left unsold, both shows sold alot of "side view" seats that made up for nose bleeder seats unsold.side views are considered extras in end stage layout concerts. |

Thanks for the update on the attendance. I was in Buffalo, and I swear, there weren't 4,000 fans when the Eminem Rap kicked in...might have climbed up to 8,000, but there was a delay in the seating, as people had to exchange their tickets. Any word on the Euro cities? Would love more info, thanks! |

You heard it here first: Queen+Paul Rodgers Tour Summer 2007 Open Arena-Stadium Tour 20,000 fans rocking! 50,000 in some stadiums in bigger cities! Let's do it!!! Freddie, can we get a witness?? |

pyromania92 wrote: 7,000 for Xcel Energy Center. About %72 capacityThe Xcel Center, according to its website, seats 18,064. I live about four miles from there, and it is usually filled to capacity when the Wild hockey team plays. Using 7,923 in attendance, I am getting a 44% capacity for Queen+. That sounds a bit sparse, but seating to the immediate left and right of the stage and the horseshoe area behind the stage (all three tiers) was blocked off as it always is for stage concerts because you can't see the stage from those areas. Thus we, the audience, were mooshed together throughout the rest of the arena, and the attendance IMO looked terrific. |

Just wanted to make sure everyone understand that two members of Queen thought that they would have to tour in clubs when returning to the U.S. Instead they didn't do that, theaters, OR auditoriums. They went straight into colliseums AND they have been succesful at it too! ...and this was TWENTY FIVE YEARS after not touring here AT ALL! I know of NO act that has done that...and need I remind you all...all WITHOUT Freddie Mercury! Which means that they need to tour here more on this tour over the next few months. There are no excuses! No more "Queen aren't popular enough in the U.S." comments from fans or the group. This shoud be done for this tour and not a new l.p. YET. Obviously there is more work to be done to raise the interest level and there are many places in the U.S. where they have not toured yet. We need to get people talking about them doing more dates here in the U.S. of A. as well... Why shouldn't this be taken as far as possible?! |

Ain't that somethin? Brian commented on his website that we in Chicago were one of the loudest, energetic crowds, and yet... oddly, one of the smallest... some 6,000 less than several other cities. Whassupwiddat? We a buncha BIGMOUTHS or what? ;-) |
Saint Jiub 01.04.2006 10:45 |
The fact that the AllState Arena is a tin can (although largely improved from the early 80's) had something to do with it. |

Donna13 wrote: If they start doing large outdoor stadiums in Europe, does anyone think they will start having an opening act - such as The Darkness?Given the sales on The Darkness second album, they may be happy to have the work. On the other hand, given the comments about Brian May and the Q+PR tour made by Justin Hawkins earlier in the year, they may find themselves off the opening act short list. |
Donna13 04.04.2006 11:01 |
I wasn't aware of any bad comments by Justin Hawkins. One Way Ticket To Hell And Back has a couple of good songs; the title track is great. |

stateside fan wrote: i agree Regor!!nice job finding that.i have many crowd shots of philly and wash if you want to see them.Yes, that would be great ! I'd love to see more of the audience of that tour ! The guys seem to be very happy about the overall response. Where can I see them ? Thanks in advance ! The media response surprises me as well. The vibe seems to be spectacularly good at almost every show. I think that's partly due to the fact, that everyone was so desperately waiting for them to play live again, that it caused additional intensity at almost every gig. And honestly, from my own experience in europe: even though the stadium in cologne was only about 65% full, the atmosphere was FANTASTIC ! I'm really glad the tour is such an emotional experience for all you US-Fans ! Rock on ! |

But c'est la vie. I loved "One Way Ticket to Hell ... and Back" from start to finish. Good fun mindless rock'n'roll that went on, did its thing, and then went away, lickity-split. But given Brian May's fairly thin skin, I don't expect to see much love exchanged between the two bands in the near future. |

So, I wouldn't believe that there is anything much to this story. Not to completely hijack the thread, but I'm pretty sure Justin said what he was quoted as saying (i.e. "Brian May is destroying Queen's legacy by turning it into a karaoke band" or some such), which was after their no-show at the Hyde Park concert last summer. The Brian May "Oh I think The Darkness are great" style comments dried up thereafter. How they actually feel about each other is certainly open to speculation, but the guy did pretty well diss Brian May very publicly, so that much isn't so much a "story" as it is just what happened. I'm pretty sure the quote got some lively Queenzone discussion going at the time, so if the search feature worked, you could check it out. Maybe someone reading remembers ...? EDIT: Found it meself. Here's the quote - "Queen used to be something worth fighting for, but I think that Brian May has butchered the back catalogue and allowed fucking people like 5ive to ruin the memory. It's like when somebody you're close to has a roadkill: you don't really want to see them like that, you want to remember them how they were. I think it's pissing on the grave." link |
Donna13 04.04.2006 21:11 |
That's pretty funny. Yes. Sorry to hijack this thread. But that quote is very funny. Thanks for finding it for me. Actually, to me that quote just shows how much Justin likes his Queen music! In regards to Vegas, the MGM Grand Garden Arena has 17,157 seats. I recall seeing only two teeny-tiny sections way up in the corners nearest the stage closed, probably 30-40 seats each. Minus the seats that the catwalk took up, maybe what, another 40? Other than that, looked chock-full up to me, I don't recall seeing a noticeable amount of empty seats. If my figures aren't wrong, i'd venture to guess there were a good 17,000 people there. I could be missing something though, the arena is pretty small compared to most and it sure didnt look like, even at almost full capacity that there were 17k people there. |
