OH MY GOD! this show was so amazing. it was the best concert. even if freddie was not there, but he was in sprit. i know that. it brought me too tears in some parts. i think paul rogers did an great job. for those who wine and complain about him. for those who went to this concert i hope you had the best time as i did. i justed wished the my city was a little more into it. i sat on floor4 about 50ft away from the long platform. they were great seats. freddie would been great there. brian and roger were outstanding. when brian sang love of my life, it brought a tear in my eye, just thinking of freddie and how he would let us sing it too. i would love to hear the people's coments who went to this concert in buffalo. try to make them possitive please. Yeah it was really good. I took my mom, it was her first concert and she loves Brian haha and I could see in her eyes like...wow...I can;t believe I am seeing him in real life kinda thing. I was dissapointed it seemed cut short. When I went to NJ Roger sang a couple songs and Brian did a few acoustic rather than one. So I was like..whats with that. I had row 20 in FL 3 and when I got there I couldnt believe I was right next to the catwalk pracitcally.Later when the show started I just walked up to the front part of the catwalk and watched the concert and took pics..etc. So I was happy. It sucked that Roger only gave sticks to one side of the catwalk lol...I thought he would do one this side the other that side...I was on the other side and he gave out both sicks on the other side. Oh yeah...and they barely spoke to the crowd..?? Rog didn't bust out jokes or talk and sing a lot and Brian didn;t talk much either...they didn;t mention they were in B-lo till like 3/4ths in the show and I think only Paul mentioned it. But yeah I am glad they came here and they did rock as usual...I just thought compared to NJ in October there was less energy/closeness to the band/feedback form the band.So I was dissapointed by that mainly...not at all at the music...they rocked for sure!! I have to say Paul was excellent with making eye contact with the crowd, talking, touching hands. He looked like he was really truly genuinely happy/greatful to be playing. I also hope the others liked it though. The new song is really nice but I have to say it sounds verrryyy much like the rest of Paul Rogers songs. But it was good and sound slike a single..I hope they put it out. |

Concert in Buffalo was wonderful! Upon our arrival, we found out we had to exchange our tickets (10 of us) for an upgrade, which moved us from 300 level (up high, on the opposite end of stage) to 100 level (lower, 40 rows up, on left side of stage). Looking around, it seemed like such a sparse crowd, maybe 4,000 to 7,000--further evidence that this band is still unknown in this hick town. Concert began with the lights fading to black, and an Eminem song cranked up in the background, perhaps an appeal to the younger generation who have discovered this terrific band. Paul Rodgers then appeared on the catwalk, belting out the opening song, leading into "Tie Your Mother Down". Queen basically stuck to the same set as in Toronto, including a sweet version of "Under Pressure", a personal favorite. Interestingly, the atmosphere in the arena and mood of the crowd seemed lacking at first--perhaps this was due to the lack thereof. Some were sitting on their hands; others were jamming and getting into it. Yet, it seemed to pick up as the concert progressed; at first, it was as if half the crowd was there for the band, and the other half for some other reason I couldn't quite figure out. But later, as the band was warm, and the music was brilliantly executed, the crowd came alive and actually seemed to grow larger. Perhaps many thought there would be an opening band, who knows. Why so few were there is still beyond me, but America never appreciated this band to begin with, so why am I suprised? Concert overall was musically a masterpiece. Paul Rodgers really held his own, in my view, and dared the unthinkable, in belting out Freddie Mercury's songs. Ultimately, I gained considerable respect for him. Ending with "Bohemien Rhapsody", "We Will Rock You", "All Right Now" and "We Are The Champions" couldn't have been a better touch. If you are considering seeing these guys, do not miss this chance. Last time Queen was in Buffalo was 24 years ago, when I was 16, missing that show. I vaguely recall them coming here, and the general lack of interest back then. This time, I had to go...wouldn't have missed it for the world. |

Awesome Show! Thanx to those who won front row tickets from 97 Rock, and didn't bother to show up - I got to move up from row 5 and rock with the Boys! My only gripe - Brian didn't come over to our side of the stage enough. But when he did, he interacted with us & was awesome! I have new found appreciation for Paul Rodgers - he is a wonderful entertainer. Not Freddie, but then again nobody can replace him as we all know. Great seeing Roger come out from behind the kit and be a front man for a change! And the rest of the band was great - missed John not being there, but the boys jammed! Too bad there weren't more fans there - you missed an awesome show!!!!!! |

Greetings Buffalo from a Toronto Queen fan. Really cool to see that you all took part in a memorable Queen concert experience, with Brian at enlightening your city with Masterpice Theatre Guitar-work (isn't his playing incredibly amazing, OMG is he EVER freaking talented, not to mention a great gentleman too), while Rodger and Paul serenaded your crowd too. I feel very bad for the band in that your attendance was low. Perhaps, as one of you noted, the promo was lagging, and did not clarify the lack of a warm-up band. That is a shame, as many would have got an initial energy surge from Tie Your Mother Down, their intro tune, as they did in Toronto the night before. A couple of thoughts on that. Yes, it would have helped that your radio DJ's inform you that show time is 8 pm, period (remember that Brits are typically punctual, ever ridden their ever timely trains/buses?), and also that since Bad Co, was inter-twined, that that comprised the complete Queen show. God Bless our Q 107 DJ's for alerting us to that (prior to) or we might have encountered the same, with late arrivers... . I can empathize with you for being disappointed (with crowd size) on account for your own loyalty to a very great band, and your concern for how the Boys might feel about a smaller crowd. Your considerate responses are typical of good-hearted Queen fans; loyal, supportive- yet protective of these musician lords who have influenced our lives with such positive energy music. I think Freddie would be proud of you for your concerns and your obvious appreciative comments. Hey for those of you lucky folks who were able to shake Brians or Paul's hands, or catch a towel (wow that would be cool!!) i envy you, i hope that moment stays with you for ever. I was in lower sec in TO, but only 70' from stage, and so Brian was in our living room for that matter. I am also going to Detroit, so i will get my buddy to try your strategy and pay$ a bit to get even closer. Queen rocks and always will be my number one band. Yes i too, at 41 yrs, shed tears for a few tunes (Bo.Rh. and Those were the Days), as earlier band photos appeared. Funny how one band's music can be a true chronology for your life. My mother thought i had gone straight to hell, at age 12, when i first played A Night At the Opera in our living room after sunday dinner. Yet many moms were in the crowd in TO. and this time there were no complaints! Hey American friends, next time they come to Buffalo, I'll tell a few friends here, and join you all- we'll pack the place with good Can-Am folks. The Show Must Go On. Peace eh? |
DreaminQueen 19.03.2006 08:43 |
This was the greatest show ever. And I too was disappointed in the attendence, because I hope that should they do a studio album (and that prospect is getting brighter and brighter everyday!!!!!) that they'll come back. Granted the PR for this tour was not AT ALL WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!!! But too bad for those who didnt go because it was one hell of a show! And I'm jealous of those who got the towel!!! LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can read about my experience here link It is rather lengthy, and doesnt even come near to what i want to say!!!!!!!!!!!! My adrenaline is still pumping! I think ill be flying on this high for a looonnnng time. As one of Queen's younger fans, this meant so much to me that i got to go... I shed many tears, and im amazed that i can even talk! I was screaming so much! I apologize to those around me in my section for my out-of-controlled yelling and jumping! In fact, we werent even where we should have been, but someone was already in our seats, but we wound up with better ones anyways!! We were in section i think 116, like row 8!!! I had a nice brief encounter with the woman sitting behind me, and it just goes to show you that QUEEN brings people together! I had this lovely little woman sitting infront of me, im not sure of her age, but she was rockin' out with her cane and, i was just in awe at the entire experience. I really really really really A million times REALLY hope that they'll come back again!!! I was a little sad that Rogie didnt talk to the crowd, but i was in no means disappointed with the show in anyway. I just wish they talked more with us. Outside of that, i have no complaints. But the journal entry (link above) will share everything with you if you're interested. BOYS IF YOU READ THIS, COME BACK AGAIN! WE LOVE YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Why is the attendance so low? To me it seems obvious for those reasons: - A rap intro - A band that adamantly refuses to play what the audience wants to hear (no '39, no IWIA, instead of that they add some Paul Rodgers or other disposable stuff like "Dragon attack") - A vocalist who treats some Queen songs really badly. Corresponding to Roger Taylor "if they don't like it... they should stay home and listen to the records". We (the majority of the Queen-Fans) take him at his word, staying at home and listening to the records. A few others (some few thousand) go watching the QPR-Shows, selling their soul even to Rap. QPR are rather Rap preacher/promoter than Queen-messengers. |

fantasma wrote: Why is the attendance so low? To me it seems obvious for those reasons: - A rap introWhat are you going on about? The Eminem intro works well. Not many haven't heard it so it has a certain level of familiarity. It also is catchy. When you hear Lose yourself with Brian playing in the background the level of anticipation goes up. Besides how many people know about the Eminem intro? fantasma wrote: - A band that adamantly refuses to play what the audience wants to hear (no '39, no IWIA, instead of that they add some Paul Rodgers or other disposable stuff like "Dragon attack") - A vocalist who treats some Queen songs really badly. They changed up a couple of songs. Big deal. They played well over 2 hours. If they play every song that every fan wants they would still be playing the opening show in Miami with multiple intermissions. It is Queen + Paul Rodgers so it makes perfect sense to play some of his songs. All Right Now and Can't Get Enough of Your Love are as well known in North America as most Queen songs from the '70s. (Obviously not on the level of Sports Stadium anthems 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are The Champions' or BoRhap) I don't hear attendees complaining about the Paul Rodgers songs. I really enjoyed hearing 'Bad Company' and qUEEN'S 'Dragon Attack' As far as your view that Paul Rodgers treats "some Queen songs really badly" I disagree. He is not Freddie. Get used to it. There are a couple of songs on ROTC I thought he didn't sound good on. 'I want to Break Free' was awful on ROTC but in Toronto it was really good. To blame Paul Rodgers just seems to me like another bitter & disgruntled Freddie fan. fantasma wrote: Corresponding to Roger Taylor "if they don't like it... they should stay home and listen to the records". Who are you to think you speak for "the majority of the Queen-Fans"? You sound like a religous zealot when you make comments about those attending Q+PR Shows as " selling their soul even to Rap" "QPR are rather Rap preacher/promoter than Queen-messengers" Nobody sold their soul by going out for a great night of entertainment by a great band. Q+PR have nothing to do with "rap". there is no inherent message involved with what Queen did or Q+PR do. If you want a message go visit Brianmay.com and visit his soapbox. Me message to you is to pull your head out of your a$$. You could use the fresh air and the sunlight. You might change your $hitty outlook. IT IS JUST MUSIC!!!! The low attendance in some shows is due IMHO to poor promotion & high prices. |
DreaminQueen 19.03.2006 17:14 |
Well said! those points were so laughable... I detest rap music, but i do like "Lose Yourself" by Eminem because it has a good message and is a cool way to build the antcipation... And all other songs before that are classic rock like Jimi Hendrix or CCR, you make it sound like they're playing nothing but rap prior to the show... And there was zero advertising where i was for any Queen shows, usually for shows there is crazy promotion going on, so many people didnt even know that there even was a Queen show going on. And i agree with Roger as well, if you dont like it, dont go. But im sooo glad that i went! Because i was 2 when freddie passed, im never gonna see him live. And paul did a great job singing in Fred's memory. But as usual, the naysayers have to come in and be kill joys. |

OMG!!!! Brian was in Niagara Falls and my house is 5 minutes from the park. I knew they probnably would check it out...I should have camped out there...well if you could and if it wasn;t soooo damn cold haha. Butyeah I can;t believe he was around. Oh yeah....you know when Bri paused for quite a while during LOML....I thought he was pretty much done so I yelled out "play 39!!!!" lol (it was a girls voice-wlel duh lol) but yeah..I felt like an ass after he continued to play the song...I was like..he for sure is gonna write this on his website saying how some jerk ruined the moment. So yeah...sorry for ruining the moment haha I didn'tmean to. But it rocked!OMG I got to change seats too I had row 20 but just marched on up to the gate and ended up at the tip (slightly to the right) of the catwalk. I also had to be stuck between people passing weed around lol then the security guy busts out his flashlight. Oh well...it was great! |

Other than that, it was a perfect night! and as for brian (i couldnt remember all he said, but after my shock wore off!) he said "this was written by a man who couldnt be wit hus tonight, but hes here in spirit, this is love of my life" or something like that. But I'm talking about just before that moment! He briefly said something in reply to the shouting from me and the guy across the catwalk. |

I was in row 15 right behind you guys! there were like 4 guys in row 16 doing the St. Pats 2-fisted drinking thing. they were sloshing beer everywhere and got it on my coat and tour program. Jerks! When the lights came up, I swear I was standing in an inch of beer. Me and my friend were wearing the Queen II tee shirts that were getting the compliments and the "where did you buy those?" only to hear the disappointing reply, "I made them!" So if it was you guys who asked - that was me. I was very pleased with the show. The sound was great, and the view was well worth the $99. I'll be honest, I was there to see my Brian - but I came away with a new respect for Paul Rodgers. And a word to you naysayers: with "fans" like you, who needs enemies? I loved the show. Did you see me? I was the kid around 12th row, next to the catwalk, with his head buried in a plastic bag 58% of the time. Oh yes, I am very sick. I have some sort of infection but I hope I feel better soon. During the concert, I stood up when I could, I had to duck out to use the bathroom during Bri's solo, but I don't care, the concert was magical, perfect, amazing, everything that makes up a really great rock concert. I really do think that they should come back. It was too awesome. By the way, did you see the guy dressed in drag for some contest where you could win backstage passes? Unbelieveable! Alright, back to bed for me. I'll have plenty pictures for all of you later. |

Writing on the road..currently in Pittsburgh. I thought the Buffalo show was tighter than Toronto. The attendence was pathetic and the crowd- although better than Toronto was really dead -except for some of us on the floor going mental in Row 20. LOML Brian seemed a little sad that nobody was singing along --we sang as loud as we could and he turned and received acknowledgement. That was nice. Dragon Attack was the best song of the night---that rocks and is so fun. Saw some band family members in the crowd as well. All in all a good show. |

does any one know how long did the guys stay here in buffalo? before i went into the arena i heard some one singing bohemian rhapsody. it made me laugh i would of started that freddie thing that he would do to warm up his voice in front of the audience but my friend would of killed me. hopefully next time if they come back we all should get to together and sit around each and just have a good jolly ol queen time so their will be no spilling of beer around us and he can encourage the band with interaction so even if there is no reall sold out crowd the guys will at least know who the loyal fans are. us alone would be better for those who we were sitting next to did nothing. i sat in floor 4 row 32 and this couple were sitting next to me they didnt even clap or shout they just stood there. what the hell was that all about. that was making me mad they had no reaction to them. like they were in a canatonic state or something. why did they even show up. love to all queen fans who went and had a blast like i did. i still think about the show and have a hard time sleeping cause of it. |

Fantasam wrote, A band that adamantly refuses to play what the audience wants to hear (no '39, no IWIA, instead of that they add some Paul Rodgers or other disposable stuff like "Dragon attack") \ Fantasam, your incredibly deep negatvity about Q-PR tour annoys me up here in TO too. Dude, you're playing in the Lion's Den, as the concensus is that anyone who witnessed that show, expected - and received; a blend of one of rock's all time best male voices with one of the "Best guitarists, amid Queen et al, with terrific talent to boot. We knew Paul isn't Freddie, and all fans accept this. But Freddie would sound a bit unusual singing hard core Bad Co. tunes too, though he had great vocal range. Fant, enlighten us, how many classic rock bands of that size, status, talent, re-group with a huge singer and tour successfully? None, and don't cite some lame 80's band as an example either. {Van H mixing with Sammy H would be acceptable though}. "True Queen fan" , whats with that?? you're not worthy of such bravado dude. A true Queeen fan would not dare trash them , in spite of any challenges faced (like inserting a lead tenor voice for a soprano, then tour) . We true Queen fans are (as i said in prior note), good-natured, loyal , and supportive, always expecting Queen to change, and reach for new electrifying sounds. Thats their style, and I am certain Freddie would approve of the current mix. The Eminem Intro rap was fine, it got anyone-everyone stoked around where i was sitting, young-older- who cares, it grabbed attention and Queen took over from their, giving us a full throttle ride for the next 2+ hrs. PS. the Rap was brief and flowed well into Tie your Mother down, in Tor concert anyways. Fantasma, I agree 100% with what Teleman lectured you on (well stated Teleman). I also want to add that your disapproval for the tunes missed (IWIA, '39,), is part valid, but if one scans the Set List, they are continually varying it , every 4-5th show. Buffalo, and TO missed those tunes too, but LOMY had everyone singing either way. I am fortunate enough to go see them -again , In Detroit, this fri, (this time floor seats, 6 rows back, Holy F**K!). I really hope that fans like Fantasa stay home and play TV ping-pong and other archaic leisure activities that would complement his mind-set to live in the past. He does need to chill, and recognize that narrowed (non-sensible) views are for the media press journalists. Note to self 'Fantasma, "I had no business commenting On Queenzone". |

Sir GH, that was my husband that you saw thinking it was Paul. He was wearing a Breakthru 2004 shirt and it took us about 5 minutes to realize that you thought he was Paul from Breakthru....by that time, you had already long walked away. Paul is one of my bestest friends! ;) |

I was there Floor 2 (next to catwalk) 17th row...pretty good seats. I also liked how the cameraman kept filming to a really hot girl in a dark tank top. It was my first Queen concert ever and it was also considered my best non sexual experience of my life. I could talk about it all day. just amazing! |
