I´ve still not discovered some Queen album suchs as: Sheer Heart Attack, Hot Space, A Night At The Opera, most songs from the early 70´ and the middle of the 80´. I have the following albums: Innuendo, The Miracle, Made In Heaven, Greatest hits I,II and III. if you could name me some good songs from the album of the time ;) thanks! |

Hot Space - Under Pressure, Staying Power, Back Chat, Las Palabras De Amor. Sheer Heart Attack - every song except She Makes Me. |
Munchsack 16.03.2006 16:09 |
Couldn't agree more, except not Back Chat. |

Heathen! Back chat is the best song on Hot Space. Las Parables De amore is the worst. Sheer Heart Attack: Bring Back That Leroy Brown |

Well in my opinion the only song to avoid on Hot Space is 'Cool Cat' and on Sheer Heart Attack every song is great, especially 'She Makes Me'. |
RedSpecial1979 16.03.2006 18:14 |
"She Makes Me" is fairly uncharacteristic as far as Brian's Queen material, but is IMHO one of Brian's prettiest songs, especially vocally. |

Sheer Heart Attack: Stone Cold Crazy, Killer Queen, Tenement Funster-Flick of the Wrist-Lily of the Valley and In The Laps Of the Gods (Revisted) are my favorites. Hot Space: Under Pressure, Life is Real, Las Palabras de Amor, Staying Power and Back Chat are my favorites. :D ..... in my opinion ... |

I dont think theres a bad song on Sheer Heart Attack. I dont have HOT SPACE yet, but ive heard many songs from it and i enjoy them all so... I highly recommend "News of the World" as well. Definatly one of my fave albums... "ITS LATE" is definatly one of Queens crowned jewels!!! |
TheImpossibleMan 16.03.2006 19:32 |
Hot Space is an absolutely shit album; there's Under Pressure, an amazing song, and then ten pieces of shit. Sheer Heart Attack is superb, great all around. She Makes Me is probably the worst song, but even it is still good. Lily of the Valley, Stone Cold Crazy, and In the Lap of the Gods...Revisited are the best tracks. |

Ha, Hotspace was my first album too. Yeah, thats my 2nd favorite to The Game. I cant say anything bad about Hotspace except that remix on the end is kind of dissappointing. It really sounds like the lady played the CD and a set of moracas into a microphone. Other than that, it kicks ass. |

Sheer Heart Attack and A Night At The Opera are in my top 5 favourite albums! There great. |
JeroenG 16.03.2006 19:39 |
I get so tired of people saying that the complete Hot Space album is shit. It's just different... that's it. IMO the best songs are Dancer, Put Out The Fire, Calling All Girls, Las Palabras De Amor & Staying Power (only if live versions count!) IMO the less good songs are Life Is Real, Cool Cat & Staying Power (if you count the album version!) |
jcrawford79 16.03.2006 19:39 |
Although I think Sheer Heart Attack is the weakest link of the early albums, its still a great album and I recommend getting it. Hot Space, on the the hand, is one of the best albums Queen released. I have no reservations about saying this. Personal favorites are Back Chat, Dancer, Life Is Real, Under Pressure, and Cool Cat. Its radically different than anything Queen ever did before or after but is an incredible album regardless. I would also like to say that I envy you for getting to discover the catalogue anew. I wish I could go back and rediscover each album one by one as that is one of my greatest memories of my early teenage years. |

Hot Space- Every song but Life is Real Sheer Heart Attack- Lap of the gods (both) Leroy Brown, Flick of the wrist, lily of the valley. There are some others that are okay. |

Are you clowns kidding me. Hot Space is not only the worst album Queen made, it's the only album they made that was bad. Even Brian has admitted as much. |

I can nejoy the entire Hot Space album very mutch, It's even my second favourite eighties album from Queen. Not even one of the songs I don't like. It's just an experiment from Queen in a completely other direction. |

Sheer Heart Attack album is brilliant, for every song and as a whole. Best Song: Almost everything. Worst Song: Now I'm Here (Repetitive... Probably I will be cruficied for this...) Hot Space is not bad. It's the other ones that are so good. :) Best Song: Under Pressure (without a doubt) Worst Song: Body Language (without a doubt) For me, Freddie wrote the best Queen songs... bit also the worst (body language, delilah..) |
bohemianrhap84 17.03.2006 10:38 |
Both albums are great in my opinion. Don't listen to anyone tell you that Hot Space sucks, it definitely does not. It has great shining moments such as Under Pressure, Life Is Real, Put Out The Fire, Las Palabras De Amor, and Cool Cat. The only not so good songs on HS are Dancer and Body Language. Other than that is a good album. Plus I recommend getting Queen Live At The Bowl and listen to Staying Power and Back Chat live....awesome! As for Sheer Heart Attack, I agree with earlier posts that the songs all flow well together. Most of the songs are great...Flick Of The Wrist/Lilly Of The Valley, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, In The Lap Of The Gods (both versions), and Stone Cold Crazy. Personally I don't Like Now I'm Here all that much but you may like it. I agree that the only not so good song is She Makes Me which is sung by Brian. But I would recommend buying both albums and listening to them all the way through then you can make your own opinion. Good luck. |

These are two wildly contrasting albums. Hot Space is weak record, no douvts about it and Under Pressure is overrated. However there are some good moments here, such as the very muscular anti-gun rant Put Out The Fire, all crunching rifs and meaty drums. Life Is Real, is a dreamy piano ballad for John lennon with tasteful synthesisers that are very lennon sounding. Las Parablas De Amor covers much the same ground as Teo Torriate but is much more coherent and less flowery. The swirling synths are lovely and Brian's piano work is spot on. Of the disco material, Back Chat is about the best, particularly live, when it bristles. Dancer has some gutsy guitar and Staying power is bearable, again better live. In terms of production the sound is very dry and synthetic with a lot keyboard bass and ofdd synth effects. Sheer Heart Attack is a truly great album, heavier than A Night At The Opera yet more accessible than the brilliant but nonsensical Queen II. Everything is covered, hard rock (the Stonesy Now I'm Here and Tenemnet Funster), metal ( he furious Stone Cold Crazy and the scalding riff- lines of brighton Rock where freddie sings as both a male and female character.), vaudeville jazz (Killer Queen and Leroy brown) and lovely ballads like Lily Of The Valley, which has beautiful guitar orchestration. To cap it off there is Lap Of The Gods Revisited.. a mighty power anthem that could be even better than We Are The Champions. |

I can't believe you all have the same album that I have. 1. BACK CHAT has been identified in this thread as the worst cut and the best cut. That alone should be worth a listen. Plus, this is one of Brian's best guitar solos (albiet a short one) in Queen history. 2. COOL CAT was also pointed out as a potential stinker. Freddie could falsetto. If you bought the Barcelona album, then you must have been curious. Cool Cat shows him at absolute top form in this department. Yeah, he's not singing like he normally does, but I take this over Aaron Neville any day! Plus any of you R&B fans appreciate the rhythm section as I do? 3. BODY LANGUAGE was Freddie at play. I'm no brokeback, but this is always enjoyable to listen to, especially when his subject matter grew much more grim in years to come. 4. DANCER is another one where all four get to shine in their own right. John is all over the place, while perfectly holding it together. 5. STAYING POWER is quite memorable to me, because I hadn't heard any singles prior to buying the album. I clearly received "The Shocker", and was very impressed for these Rock & Rollers to be doing this. And yes, I do live in the U.S. |

Hot space: Calling all girls, Life is real (song for Lennon),Body language, Las palabras de amor, Back chat, cool cat, Put out the fire...it's a very good album, to me but i don't like under pressue (horoble), dancer is not bad but i don't like it very mutch and action this day is little bit boring, but ok... Sheer heart attack: The best is Lily of the valley and dear friends...but killer queen, now i'm here, stone cold crazy, in the lap of the gods, Misfire, Brighton rock, She makes me, Flick of the wrist...tenement funster and bring back that lerroy brown are good but little boring songs...i don't like them very mutch... kiss ti all, Freddie I love you.. |

To Mircrowave: "4. DANCER is another one where all four get to shine in their own right. John is all over the place, while perfectly holding it together." It's funny you mentioning John all over the place in Dancer. In terms of instruments, I believe that John played nothing at all. I know for sure that the bass is synth and programmed by Brian. Perhaps John played a synth or even a rhythm guitar, since he was AWESOME in rhythm guitar, even the other member stated that he also the best rhythm guitarrist of the band. One thing is for sure. John had very input in the production, that I admit. Hot Space is the album where the concept of band got lost. You had every member playing different instruments in their own songs in a more regular basis: Roger played synths and guitar in ATD and CAG; John played guitars, synths, drum programming; Brian played synth bass in Dancer, synths, piano in LPDA; Freddie played synth bass in BL... etc etc.. |
