you wanna try the £4.00 (note £s not $s) it is a gallon in the UK - for our european readers - that's 89c a litre |

If I want to get to work, I have to drive. The price of petrol is typically more stable in the UK than here. Also healthcare is free in the UK, I have to pay for insurance. |

shit, I fill up every 4 or 5 days and its killing me. Gas went up 15 cents here - so we're up to 2.45 here now |

I have tried living in "Rip off Britain". I'm from Scotland. I lived there for 21 years! You should try having to pay for healthcare. That's WAY worse than 4 quid a gallon. Give me that anyday over paying for healthcare. I could get on a bus to the train station from where I lived in Scotland, get on a train and goto London if I wanted. Compared to here, it's great public transportation. |
Munchsack 16.03.2006 15:54 |
Ours (in Scotland) went up to 99p per litre a while ago, and it only stopped because the boards couldn't go up to a quid! They're lower now, though. |

no it wouldnt. People would think twice about wasting gas and joyriding. You would then also realize that there are some distances that would be better to walk, ride a bike or run. |

I don't claim to be an expert on the American economic state *brushes aside doctorate of American Economy* but I'm pretty sure that there'd be huge, huge, huge protests over having 'gas' prices at $5 a gallon. And remember what Ross Noble once said: Everywhere is in walking distance. Just depends what time you start walking to when you finish. |

Adults with families and jobs do not "joy ride." I go from required point A to point B. Believe me, the less time I spend on the road with the other idiots, the better. I take my son to the babysitter, my daughter to school, and myself to work. That is 99% of my driving. There are no trains here to use. The nearest bus stop is probably 5 miles from my house. I can't ask my 2 yr old and my 7 yr old to walk 5 miles to take a bus that would probably take me 20 miles out of the way to get me to a bus stop 5 more miles from my destination. The transportaion system in the US is not like in Europe. |

It's great to hear that gas prices are skyrocketing. Not only will that convince *some people* to finally start using their cars a bit less, thus saving what little nature is left on the planet, but it will also boost interest in alternative methods of powering transportation, such as hydrogen-combustion and hydrogen-fuel cells. |

I hope the Arabs set fire to all the oil. Sure, it might screw up the environment, but then us Westerners will never get our fucking hands on it. We'll only do the same damage, but over a much longer period of time. Then the onus will be on the rest of the world to find an alternative. You can start this Snowball of Kickarse by burning any oil refineries you see. Failing that, write letters. Or, when you have to blow out your birthday candles, wish for all the fossil fuel to disappear. Failing that (we only get one birthday a year) go to *other* people's birthdays, blow out their candles for them and steal their wishes. |
