I'm making a stand here people! I'm sick to the back teeth of reading reviews of The Miracle album and seeing Khashoggi's being almost dismissed every time. Am I the only person alive who LOVES this song?? Freddie's vocal performance is nothing short of amazing (the kind of amazing that makes one smile uncontrollably) the way he carries such a strong vocal line over the accompaniment............. Am I going crazy or is this not a great song? |
[StArMaN] 16.03.2006 08:20 |
You're not going crazy. I really like the song too. Great drums, great guitar work, great everything. It got a real "live" feel. It's just that there is no those BIG Queen tradmarks in it (chorus, riff lines etc...). Maybe it's why this song is so dismissed. I'm with you on this one, LateMix ! |
Suigi 16.03.2006 08:32 |
Same. The end bit certainly has that live feel, and I always picture it that way when listening to it. |
Daveboy35 16.03.2006 09:34 |
I don't think it gets a hard time i just think it's just not recognised at all , i think it's a great tune with a 'live' feel to the song as if they are on stage just have a ball. I think i've read somewhere that quite a few drinks were consumed in making this i might be wrong. |

I loved it as soon as I heard it. I love how it starts where 'Party' left off. It's a great track and I don't understand either why it gets so much flack. |
Benn 16.03.2006 10:32 |
It's a great track and the sound is very fresh and open; almost as if it was a "live in the studio" take. Would like to have the unedited / unmerged song available at some point. |
David Jones 16.03.2006 17:16 |
Yep, I love it. Infact, my nickname here used to be Khashoggi many moons ago... |
Freddie_Jr. 16.03.2006 18:19 |
word to all |
DreaminQueen 16.03.2006 19:11 |
I love this song as well! Its sooo much fun and i often imagine Freddie rockin' it out live on stage at another Wemblyesque gig. But it doesnt get enough recognition. But thats ok, its one of those undiscovered gems. Alot like 'Its Late'. Another one of my FAVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
john bodega 16.03.2006 21:31 |
Khashoggi's is pretty good. It's Party that should get a hard time! Nah, really - even Queen songs I don't like, I can't be bothered wasting my time on hating them. Pretty good album, the Miracle. |
PainPleasure 16.03.2006 21:57 |
simply because Party and Khashoggi's Ship are fillers like More of that Jazz, Don't lose your head, Coming Soon and the list goes on... |
jasen101 16.03.2006 22:41 |
Hmmm...kinda like ur a filler on this board. |
john bodega 17.03.2006 02:01 |
HAHAHAH there's nothing quite as ironic as an 'insult' from someone who spells 'you are' as 'UR'. You fucking caveman. |
jasen101 17.03.2006 02:13 |
hey ur the australian...and ur calling me a caveman? |
rogertaylor88 17.03.2006 04:17 |
I think Khashoggi's Ship would be a great song put together with Was It All Worth It live, in a kind of "medley"... |
BeckyLovesBrian+Roger 17.03.2006 04:57 |
yeah omg i cant g on dis im at skl lol urrm my pc wont let me fix it guys plzzzzzz help :s |
Asterik 17.03.2006 11:04 |
What I never understand about people on this site is that they'll criticise Party/Khashoggi's Ship till the cows come home but when they come up with setlists for a fantasy 1988/1989 tour, they always include them as the openers. Bizarre. I love both songs- they have an energy that Queen had really lacked in the eighties and it was good to open with such hard rock bombast. |
deleted user 17.03.2006 13:48 |
Very inspiring song... I did make a whole play around Khashoggi's ship, when I where a teen... They where my best points. The teacher only deducted me 0.5point for omiting a point in my script.... |
Cricket Nutter 17.03.2006 14:39 |
Definitely one of the better songs on The Miracle. |
Going Back 17.03.2006 14:47 |
the miracle album is amazing and every song on it is worth atleast 9 out of 10! |
LucyCoeCollins 17.03.2006 22:12 |
I can't speak for other queen fans but i absolutely adore The Miracle album:-) |
AmeriQueen 18.03.2006 06:07 |
You are the only one I have ever seen say anything one way or the other about it. It probably gets lost in the shuffle because of it's lack of independance. I always lump it with The Party. It is a great song, but I prefer the closing of the album over the opening. |
Asterik 18.03.2006 06:44 |

kalimera 18.04.2006 07:46 |
I'll agree with PISCTP and DLYH, but More Of That Jazz? I wouldn't say that was a filler. I don't know, just opinion. |
Yood-Queen 19.04.2006 08:13 |
in my opinion this is very nice song, creative, great song., |

jasen101 wrote: hey ur the australian...and ur calling me a caveman?.... I can't believe I missed this. Haha. Ur this, ur that - I apologise for picking on your original post. I didn't realise you were deliberately talking like a fool, I thought you were just stupid. I was patently wrong. |

I always thought that Khashoggi would have made a great 1st encore for the Miracle Tour. You know, Freddie coming back to stage, grinning to the audience, and then shouting 'Who said that my party was all over?' That would have been great, imo. |
mike hunt 20.04.2006 00:09 |
good song, it's better than the opener party. |
Raffy 20.04.2006 13:06 |
It's one of my favourite songs from that album! Yes Freddie's voice in 1988(the year when I was born) was absolutely fantastic!!!! |
Micrówave 20.04.2006 13:21 |
Pain Is So Close To Pleasure is hardly a "filler" track. Oh you Rock & Rollers, you're killing me! |

Poo, again 22.04.2006 15:51 |
Well, the title of the song is just really weird, nearly creepy, but that can also be an advantage? |

pain and pleasure is a good tune, it would have made a good freddie and john solo track. the only filler on AKOM is don't lose your head. |
zone 26.04.2006 16:58 |
No such a thing as a filler on a Queen album |

A filler is usually a song written because they don't have enough material to fill the album ,I'm pretty sure they had more than enough songs to fill any album .I'll try not to be silly next time. |

I love the song. Get's me in the party mood hehe. |
That guy who digs energy domes 28.04.2006 19:36 |
It seems to have more of a funk feel rather than rock still its a good song |

Just listened to Khashoggi's and it's not that bad, really. I used to dismiss it because of Party, which is a terrible song, I guess the worst on the album. Khashoggi begins after the worst song on the LP and is followed by one of the best - maybe that's why it's often overlooked. |
