As of the 26th March it will be illegal to smoke in pubs in Scotland. I myself quit smoking on Monday and thanks to nicotine patches and Werthers Originals, I haven't had a single ciggie since. The only problem is that I feel like punching almost everyone I meet. Should I stay the course or have a fag and make the world a safer a place? Actually I'm going to stick with the patches but I'm really really pissed off. fatty. |

I haven't had any weird dreams yet. Unless this whole week has been a weird dream and it's still Monday. Oh shit! fatty. |

I should say, invite your friends home and drink and smoke there :) |
YourValentine 10.03.2006 18:39 |
Don't give up, fatty, it's worth it. I quit with patches, too and in retrospect I think it would have been better to quit without the patches because I had some minor withdrawal problems when I stopped using them. Now, that you cannot smoke almost anywhere, I am glad I stopped. |

i am so happy for you! my grandma is dying from severe lung cancer as we speak. She decided to stop smoking a few years ago, because the doctor says if you dont stop now you wont live another month. So she did and they thought everything was fine then they realized her lungs were covered in it. |
Thanks 11.03.2006 06:42 |
friend of mine once stopped, and a week or so later he coughed up a brown lump, about the size of a large marble, looking like a globule of stringy shit... It brought home the benefits of not smoking. Anyone who saw it has never smoked since. |

Well done for giving up fatty! I'm going to seriously try and give up too, I've tried so hard a lot of times but it hasn't worked. The sad thing is I'm only 16 and I've been smoking for about 5 years, as have a lot of my friends. I think it'd be great if they banned smoking in public areas in England, I know I wouldn't smoke as much if they did. I'm always careful where I smoke though, if I'm somewhere where I know a lot of people aren't going to want smoke in their faces then I'll go somewhere else. What's really annoying is that we're allowed to smoke at college which means I smoke a lot more than I did when I was at school (about 10 a day). I'm finally actually starting to worry about my health now and what I'm doing to myself so I'm going to try and give up my rollies and start..I don't know.. eating fruit or something instead. |

fatty wrote: Day 6 and counting. God, how I miss nicotine. fatty.Congratulations on your decision. I understand how difficult it is because I quit 5 days ago. Its getting easier every day though. Good luck to you. |

Poppy, at 16 you have a very good chance to quit and it's time to quit, too, because it won't be easier. The key word in you sentence describing why you did not succeed quitting is "try". Trying implicates you do your best but you are not able to quit. This is the attitude you must change. Instead of saying "I try to quit" say "I quit". You must find your own very good reason why you quit, nobody can decide it for you. To help your decision you can calculate how much money you will spend in the next 10 years on cigarettes and you can make a pro and contra smoking list and you will be amazed to see how there is no reason to go on smoking. My personal reason was that I did not want to be controlled by a substance any longer, I wanted my life back. Hang in there, fatty. I hope you make the weekend. And good luck to you, jcrawford 79! |

I can understand why someone wouldn't quite smoking, as they are already dependent and are not strong enough to resist the addiction, but what I don't understand is why so many people start smoking. It's rather silly. |
