Okay, so I'm just looking for ways to bump the threads down, but have any of you checked out "The Grizzly Man" on Discovery?
This is the nut that lived with bears for 13 years... until they'd had enough and ate him.
Set your TiVo's, you will not be disappointed. He's my "little champion".
Timothy Treadwell was indeed a nut, and this comes from a tree hugging liberal. I wouldn't dare to say that he got what he deserved, because he was just a human being who got too carried away on his crusade to "protect" bears, but he seemed to doing more harm than good by invading the bears' environment.
Apparently Timothy Treadwell suffered from anthropomorphia, and in many ways he was a guy who wished he was a bear, and by doing so he met his fatal demise.
The documentary itself is indeed very well done. When it comes to the issue of Timothy's behavior, it's very well balanced. While praising Timothy for his efforts to bring awareness of how we should protect and respect the environment of the Grizzlys, it also criticizes his methods. I have to admire Timothy for educating children about bears and nature in general without expecting any compensation of any kind.
I am surprised it wasn't nominated for Best Documentary at the Oscars.
