Oh no! Brian May has said on his wesite that NONE of these U.S. shows are being recorded!!! That's terrible! Especially if they actually did do some new live songs! How horrible! Some of you out there better be making some great bootlegs at least audio if nothing else! I don't believe this! What is the logic?! |

Who cares if they (1.) record it for their archives or (2.) don't record at all - makes no difference for us fans, we will never get to hear it anyway. Let's hope for bootlegs. I somehow doubt the Americans will record anything so I'm putting my hopes into several European fans who are travelling to USA and they will undoubtedly take their camcorders with them :-) |
Benn 07.03.2006 06:37 |
That's a bit harsh Scully - arguably, US tapers have been the most prolific in rock history........ Look at the number of US Queen shows available, let alone shows by bands like Led Zep, The Stones, The Who etc etc...... I think Brian's just saying this to duck the issue of releasing more MP3 tracks on QueenOnline - whoever it is operating the board on the night will DEFINATELY have a DAT drive hooked up in order to be able to check out how the front-of-house sound is at each venue. This will be then be used as a reference point going forward. They'll use material like this to refer to when trying out new material on stage and also to take back in to the studio with them should someone (Brian) come up with an interesting riff that needs to be expanded on for a recording. Hopefully, a generous soul will leak one of these......you never know. |

if you know the places you can listen and watch now some stuff already, so just take a little effort and let brian dream his dreams |

So will we see a US QPR bootleg on QZ soon or not? |

Japan, (2.) Europe, (3.) USA - in this order. There are many US recordings because US have seen 200 Queen concerts, more than any other country! :-) But look at the UK tours - we have recording from most gigs. Compare to American Game or Hot Space tours - maybe one third of the gigs were recorded, mostly in VG or VG- quality. |

It's so much easier to record these things these days. If they did it in the '70s they're doing it now :) I doubt there will be an official release though since they already did ROTC...he probably wanted to squash those expectations.... |
e-man 07.03.2006 20:48 |
about the quality of US Queen recordings; remember that the last time Queen toured there, recording equipments were not was it is today. I'm not an expert, but I would think that it's easier to make a good recording in 2006 than it was in 1982, let alone 1976. |

I dunno - no-one expected and was promised anything from Japan either. I can imagine a US show being filmed and turning out so good that they do an official release. Just like "Super Live" (:-S) |

Brian said (BrianMay.com):"We don't have a recording set-up on this tour .... so ... no live downloads. At least not in the foreseeable ... But we may record one show if we think we are getting good !! ha ha! There is talk of going into a studio on a day off to put down the new song .... I"ll keep you posted."I think they're going to make a DVD out of the US tour. |
snowdog212 08.03.2006 13:50 |
Why would they record these shows. Its almost the same show on ROC/cd/dvd |

snowdog212 wrote: Why would they record these shows. Its almost the same show on ROC/cd/dvdThats a good point. Whats so exciting about this tour anyways. Brian May said Queen will focus on the 1970's material for the American fans. What a liar. |
Daz85 08.03.2006 17:16 |
Roger said it actually... and he said "earlier material"... check out the setlist.I think he was right if you think about it! |
Jay Mantis 08.03.2006 17:25 |
No US tours being recorded eh? Look at this pic psteeler posted: link Look what's recording in front of the stage, that's a professional camera. When they record video, they also record audio. :-) This of course doesn't mean it will get released or anything, I doubt that. |
AlexRocks 08.03.2006 18:35 |
The understanding is that those cameras are for just showing them on the big screens at the concert and that nothing is actually being recorded. Can you imagine? All that and someone can't stick in a video tape and press record? What the phuck? |
Jjeroen 09.03.2006 07:56 |
That's right Alex... It's for live-feed - It's with all shows with screens - nothing needs to be recorded! |
AlexRocks 09.03.2006 19:59 |
Nothing needs to be recorded. O.k. Do you also think that they should throw out all those unreleased tapes and clean out the vaults as well? They do need dusting... |
Jjeroen 10.03.2006 05:06 |
Hey - I'm a fan and collector... If it were up to me, they'd give EVERY gig a full, official release! :-) |

Benn wrote: That's a bit harsh Scully - arguably, US tapers have been the most prolific in rock history........ Look at the number of US Queen shows available, let alone shows by bands like Led Zep, The Stones, The Who etc etc......Actually we have very very few recordings of Queen in the U.S. considering how many concerts they played there. For example from the Game tour there are recordings available of less than half of the gigs although Queen was certainly at their peak in the U.S. at that time. I'm convinced that many more recordings were made of Queen in the U.S., but as there seems to be very little demand for them in the States not many have actually surfaced. But you are certainly right, the U.S. tapers together with the Japanese were definately the best in the '70ies and are of course still today. Mostly because their equipement is much better than what is commonly used in Europe. |
AlexRocks 10.03.2006 10:14 |
So are you people doing your best to bootleg or I would say more properly document the concerts...secretly of course? Either audio or film? Does anyone know if Jacksonville and or Duluth were documented in whatever best ways? |
Hitman 10.03.2006 11:08 |
Mr Scully... what are you waiting for taking a flight and go to the states to record gigs?!?!? we need a professionist for this job! :P |
Haystacks Calhoun 10.03.2006 11:43 |
Peter Gabriel, on his last tour, offered ALL of his shows available on CD off of his website after the shows. I ordered the CD of the concert we attended, and LOVE IT. It is a soundboard recording, in great quality, cost $25.00, and will last forever, unlike a $25.00 shirt. Why Queen does not do this is beyond me. Keep the proceeds it costs to do the recording, and donate the profits to the Mercury Trust. |
