I am growing more and more bitter as the tour comes closer. Why??? 23 dates of Queen on tour and in my top ten largest U.S. city, Dallas, Texas, I am within 724 miles(according to MapQuest) from Atlanta which is the closest show there is. It's as if they planned the tour to comb all areas of the U.S. so long as they are nowhere near Texas. The only centralized areas of the tour are extremely northward. WHY????????????????????????????????????? Can't they have ONE F#$%ING SHOW within driving range??? Oh, they will hit San Diego and Anaheim, no problem. It's not like they are 2 hours from each other, not to mention they already hit L.A. in October. I'm sure you Austrailians and Russians will just be thinking, "welcome to our world dude." but... QUEEN SCREWED OVER THEIR TEXAS FANS(surrounding states as well)!!! This isn't the first time either. I was going to see Brian at the Crossroads concert Eric Clapton put on 2 summers ago, but wouldn't you know it... Brian was the one act who dropped out. In short... This is bullshit!!!!! |

It's a little tougher here in Canada. It's a 4 hour flight to Toronto, but I'll be there! |
Lisser 28.02.2006 11:28 |
I'm driving almost 900 miles to see a show and I'm loving every minute of it!!! If people would spend half as much of their time trying to do something about what upsets them rather than bitching about it, they might accomplish something wonderful! |
Erin 28.02.2006 13:58 |
I hate to think how many miles we are gonna end up drivin'. Ahh well..I've waited for Brian and Roger to tour here for so many years, it's worth it!! :-) |
The Stealer 28.02.2006 14:08 |
For years I have flown overseas to see brian, roger and last year QPR. I have hoped they would come over for a few dates in the US and I am grateful. Promoters bid for shows---don't blame the band. I am doing 9 shows- a lot of driving and flying but worth it. I think this is our last chance. |
AmeriQueen 28.02.2006 14:30 |
Yeah, I flew overseas last May and flew to October so it's not like I haven't seen them. That's not my point. My point is, why exhaust the 23 dates to be evenly spread out across the United States, except keeping within 200 miles of the Louisiana Purchase. Why completely blow us off. Now if I want to see them, I will have to make the drive. I hate how this board as a majority(not all) will automatically defend any Queen official decision, no matter how justifiable the complaint is. |
Erin 28.02.2006 14:38 |
I agree there should have been, at least, one date in Texas. And I was disappointed that there wasn't a date in the Carolinas, especially since PR seems to have a pretty good fan base down here. Having said that, I NEVER, EVER thought that "Queen" would tour the US, so I'm taking anything I can get. :-) |
4freddie 28.02.2006 15:25 |
Yea it's sad ..but it may be the demographics! The Bible Belt an all they may feel that they would not do as well there...........go figure. The Closest thing you'll get to QUEEN in the SOUTH will have to be that Tribute "QUEEN FOR A DAY" check em out at for schedules at link or search link under "qfad" or "queen for a day" It would have been nice to catch Brian, Roger, and Paul In Dallas or Houston......oh well |

<font color=FF0099>Linda Of The Valley wrote: I don't know anything about the US states and all that but what I do know is it's a HUGE country. So I don't understand people complaining that they didn't come to their town - they can't go EVERYWHERE! I agree that they should do at least 1 date near Houstan and I do feel sorry for those who are missing out (cos it's an amazing experiance!) but, seriously..it's a bit much..This is so true Linda. The US is way too big for them to be able to please everyone. There is no way they could hit every state. They don't even have enough dates to hit half of all the states even if they weren't doubling up some. We are so lucky that these guys almost in their 60s are choosing to do this!!! They aren't coming to my state either and there is nothing I can do about it but exactly what I am doing...driving to where they are and I'm going to have a freaking BLAST while I'm at it!!!! I am sure the places they are visiting were carefully calculated economically and there is a logical reason for this, it's nothing personal against your state. They do have to pay the crew that sets them up and drives them around. It's not that I support every single decision Queen makes, it's just that I know I have no control over what decisions they make so I make the best out of what I have to work with. That's all it is. In general, I'm not a negative person and I don't spend my days saying "what if" and "why not." I look on the positive side of things. I am extremely grateful that I get to see 1/2 of the band I love play, LIVE!! In front of my eyes!! I also love Paul Rodgers and I get to see him!! Two awesome things that not every fan will get to experience in their lives. I'm taking full advantage of it and I refuse to moan and groan. If you want to moan and groan, go ahead, it's your right. I'd just like to suggest that you spend your time and energy on figuring out how to get to see them again bc I think Erin is right, this will be the last chance we get. Man, please be excited over this!! This is so awesome that we are getting this opportunity to see a band we love!! |

As someone also upset they are not playing the Texas area, I am disappointed. I would have loved to travel to one of the other cities but do not have the time or money to do so right now. I wish Lisser and everyone the best, and hope they have a blast. Just wish I could too. |
rockyracoon 28.02.2006 17:09 |
Maybe, just maybe, Queen has looked at regional sales numbers and has discovered that they don't have much of a fan base in Texas and that Texas instead is hooked on the Dixie Chicks and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Make the trip to Atlanta or another Queen city. You won't regret it. (Of course, I'm just sitting here in San Diego crying my eyes out that your Dixie Chicks aren't coming here for me. yea, right) |

link 9 Dallas 10 Houston 18 St Louis 19 Denver 26 Kansas City The above are all ignored south central cities with populations of over 1,500,000. But these less popiulated cities within a days drive of other highly populated cities got concerts: 27 Milwaukee 32 Las Vegas 43 Buffalo 46 Jacksonville |
AmeriQueen 28.02.2006 22:47 |
As for the "can't play everywhere" argument, if they spread the tour out perfectly over 3 venues by geography, the middle one would still be closer than Atlanta. We aren't talking about missing my home town. 724 miles to the closest venue! I agree with a round of applause for those who are toughing it out, I may end up being another. I am just saying this sucks ass that they were so thick with dates on the West and East coast, went across the North, and left the south out completely! And what the hell is with all this Dixie Chicks crap?? Like they represent Texas or something. |
Saint Jiub 28.02.2006 23:19 |
I feel lucky that they are coming to Chicago. If Queen did not come within 700 miles of Chicago, I would probably have to miss the tour due to cost, family and time issues. "There's a whole lot in between" from Cowboys & Indians rings very hollow. Really, there is no excuse for missing most of the heartland of North America, and only hitting the perimeter of the US. I think Brian and Roger got confused between Australia and North America, and assumed that the central US was just a complete desert wasteland. Ya would think that they would have been able to hit at least one of these 5 south central cities. Maybe it is a conspiracy against red states ... or Brian's beef against beef ... or a martian conspiracy. |

I won't resort to saying anything trite like 'at least they're on the same continent as you'. If they were to play Sydney and not Perth for instance, they'd be on the same continent as *me*, but still hopelessly far away. |

How do you think I feel, Q+PR aren't even comming NEAR my whole country, so I don't have the slightest chance of going to see them unless I come up with over $2000, which is not gonna happen any time soon. I have been part of a group who sent a petiton to Brian May to get them to come down and pay us a visit...that really is my only chance |
bigV 01.03.2006 03:02 |
Excuse me! "Driving range"??? You're not even crossing a national border. Take the red-eye and you'll make it if you're really a Queen fan! Last year I crossed two national borders and travelled almost 24 hours just to get from my hometown to Budapest. "A 4-hour flight"??? How about 16 hours on a very cramped bus? That's commitment for you!!! You westerners really p**s me off sometimes! Geez! V. |

"Exactly! Now there's a fan! :) Enjoy the gig" Indeed, it's an admirable sentiment but I don't see how my financial situation makes me less a fan... trust me, if I weren't so into music at TAFE, and if I hadn't set aside all my money for the course, I'd probably blow it all on going to see Queen somewhere. Meh. Enjoy the shows! |

I just roughly figured that we are going to drive 3000 miles for this tour! Oh my..:-o |

"With their work on the "Vote for Change" issue, you should be proud of them. " No, I should be, as I was before reading your post, ignorant to their political intentions because they are a dorky Country/pop group. I pay attention to informative news, not the ignorant ramblings of pop celebrities. Since they suck musically as well, I guess there is nothing worth paying attention to the Dixie Chicks. If they start making out with one another... there would be a video of theirs I would watch. As far as their political views, I find only fascinating the fact that it made news and that it upset that many people who should have(if they had a brain) either paid zero attention, or shrugged it off as a meaningless bit of information. I don't even really care about Queen's political views, except that at least with Queen we would be talking about intelligent, eduacated men with age/experience/educational degrees all offering them a better leg to stand on. |
