That appears to be taken at the same time (I think even the same day) as the Miracle sessions - I'm using Roger's tie to indicate that it's the same session for the photos. This photo also appears on the Winter '88 issue of the Fanclub magazine.
The Spring 1989 Issue of the Fanclub magazine has a ton of photos from Montreaux (, when the band was recording in studio. And there was also a photo taken with Elaine Paige (sp?).
*edit* - Autumn '88 Fanclub Mag has a photo of Brian and Mike Moran (yes, that is him!) along with the group shot with Elaine Paige and 1 other studio shot.
For what it's worth.
Andrew
Yeah smilexpert is right those pictures were taken in montreux on the same day as the one in the studio but if my memory serves me well they were going over the songs that elaine paige picked for her 'queen album',though they most probably were miracle sessions.
Oddly enough i have the aforementioned issues in front of me spring, summer autumn and winter 88 and those photos are in there, if i work out how to use my scanner i'll upload the pics from them.

Freddie --> he looks a lot like he did in the "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" video here, I must say. Only, he has such a sad look upon his face.
Personally, I prefer to think that look is 'concentration'.

Look at his mouth and the way he's standing. He looks really tired and not altogether happy.
I see what you mean, but look at this one: link
Could be that was his serious working-in-the-studio pose, no?
I love that quote. It's quite telling, yes? Would you know which album he's referring to?
And funny, but when you said it was one of Brian's favorite photographs, I thought he might have shot it. :-)
I can't believe that's in the box set. I have it. It took me forever to open it, and then I packed it right back up and put away where it would be safe. Sheesh. I'm missing out. I think I'm going to put that baby back within reach. :-)
Thanks for the info!
