Smile ended in 1970 because (in part) of musical directions between Tim ; and Brian and Roger. Tim wanted to follow a more prog-rock approach to his music - playing with bands like Morgan and others of the time. Brian and Roger stayed with the Classic Hard-Rock formula but dabbled in the prog-rock styles as well - tho (in my view) not to the extent as bands like 'Morgan', 'Mike Oldfield' or 'Genesis' would produce for the time. They were influenced moreso by the Beatles, Hendrix, Cream, Zeppelin formula, rather than the direction that Tim was going or wanted to take - Jazz-Funk Fusion and more 'true' prog-rock. Not to mention that Brian was becoming more involved with Astronomy and his graduate program so he devoted more time to that, at this point. Of course they (Smile) did re-form for 1 gig in 1992 but in my view, re-forming this group properly would be like asking an adult to grow down to a child. My point in all this -- Their musical styles are now so drastically different now that it'd be awkward and pointless. I recommend picking up Tim Staffell's 'Amigo' to hear what I'm talking about. The album is also available on iTunes and has a considerably different sound compared to Queen and Brian/Roger's solo works. It's more Steely Dan influenced. I think it sounds tremendsous. ...for what it's worth. Andrew |

I simply think it would be fun to hear April Lady, I can hear music from the original creators and let them sing their heart out like in the 60's. This will fill all possible venues with Queen fans |
