im not knocking kiss because i have not heard anything of theres but i do know gene simmons is the biggest idiot in rock, all you have to do is watch rock school for 5 minutes to get to know what hes like, he shows off to the kids and there totally unaware of who he is. i think he took them to his house in one of the series and he said something like "no other band has achieved this" one of the kids said something like bet the beatles have, "no the beatles havnt achieved it like this" or something along them lines. "if youd like to purchase the whole of kiss not including the live tours it would cost about a billion" how about fuck off bullshitter oh and what he said to one of the school teachers "I could walk into a party and walk out with your wife." yeah because genes like a sex god....yeah if you like....if he wants to think that....lets just go along with him what do you lot think about him? |

Gene Simmons is so full of shit. The only reason why a woman might want to go bed with him is because that tongue could do wonders. |

Or better yet, wonder how many diseases that guy's had over the years....lol |

Gene Simmons has a lot more going for him and has done a lot more with his life you than any of you... If you are going to quote lines from the TV at least get them right. The point of that show was to get washed up kids out of there crap lives, and you know what, he did it, and showed them what they could achieve, personally I think he did a great job with a bunch of ungreatful numpties. If one of them goes on to make something of themselves he can be proud of what he did, can any of you claim to have changed someones life to that extent? And you know what, Kiss were huge. |
brENsKi 22.02.2006 05:18 |
exactly right Togg. kiss are huge worldwide. rockshcool was a success. and although i am the first to pronounce the beatles the greatest band ever. Kiss made a lot more money than the beatles ever did. there is nothing that band didn't market...and make a tidy profit out of. oh and one final point...Both Gene Simmons (Chaim Witz) and Paul Stanley (Stanley Eisen) were first-generation Jewish Immigrants - who arrived in America with very little. They have justifiably made good their time on earth - having given a lot of oeple a legacy of music to enjoy years after they have gone....and his kids will want for nothing....Gene Simmons is living proof that hard work (he started as a teacher - hence the RockSchool thing)and a good business brain can go a long way. |

I'm not too fond of Gene...I like Rock School though..I find it interesting |

Didn't he have BoRhap and/or a couple other Queen songs played on his show? At least give him credit in that area for having good taste. There were SOME good tunes on KISS' first four albums. The sons of Alice Cooper were fun to see. The Darkness thought so much of them that they borrowed the ending of 'Black Diamond' note for note to end one of their tracks on their horrible first CD, without giving them credit. |

Rock school is good I must say but the guy is an asshole!I mean,Tommy Iommi was on it the other week and they loved him because he wasnt such a dick,so why must Gene do it when there are plenty of better candidates out there,he is the biggest fool goin I must say |

Harsh to a degree but accurate. As for "anyone could do it" Wrong, not anyone could stand up in front of 20,000 people and play (badly) what he did was give them hope, which I think was worth every penny in his pocket! |

it was an ordinairy school i think, 3 membersd of the darkness went there apparently, |
Togg 23.02.2006 03:49 |
The school was chosen because the catchment area was full of underprivileged families on low income. The kids participating were pretty well all from those backgrounds, single parent, or no parent as in the drummers case. The bass player had been on drugs and had been sleeping under the peir. Not one of them came from a stable background, that was the whole point of the show to take underprivileged kids and show them what they could become if they worked at it. If they had wanted an average school then they would have selected one in the home counties. but no they chose a school in an area that has one of the highest unemployment figures and little prospects. That was the point of the series as a contrast from the public school in the prior series which is one of the top public schools in the country. |

He does come over as a bit of a prick but hey, it works. I'm always interested in what happened to Paul Stanley? He still around? |

Here's one for the Q+PR haters... KISS is only really 2 members of the original line-up these days, Stanley and Simmons. They gave Ace Frehley the kick because of his persisting drug problems; it wasn't even him playing at the Salt Lake City Olympics ceremony, was it? Maybe a different show, but I heard he was replaced for some tour or performance. No idea if they still work with him on albums or not. |

Maybe a different show, but I heard he was replaced for some tour or performance. That was him at the Olympics -- it was his last appearance with the band before he left again. It was the American Bandstand anniversary show where Tommy Thayer played in Ace's makeup. No idea if they still work with him on albums or not. They don't work with him anymore. They tried to get him back for the Kiss/Aerosmith tour in 2003 but he wouldn't do it. He went into rehab after he left Kiss again and has been pretty much been laying low and sporadically working on a solo album (the same solo album he said he was working on back in 1997...lol) |
