I was checking the attendance of Queen-concert in the 80's (on queencocerts.com) and there were at least 4 shows, where the attendance was lower than the capacity (so they weren't sold out).
Even Knepworth wasn't sold out ( in the list).
I very often read that the magic tour was sold out, including Knebworth ( said on Champions of the World)so can anybody confirm this.
If you want to check it out, then go to link
and check Paris, Mannheim, Dublin and Knebworth.
By deffinition the sold-out theory is that if 120.000 tickets were put to sale and were sold, then you have a sold out.
I never checked the numbers but i already noticed that Queen documentaries are never accurate (like Killer Queen being their first number one hit, etc).
Take care
The attendance for the Magic Tour show in Ireland in Slane Castle (which btw is *not* in Dublin) has been variously estimated at between 80,000 and 95,000. For all intents and purposes the gig was a sellout. I recall reading some time ago that the Queen show attracted the highest ever attendance to a Slane Castle gig. As far as I know there is now an official attendance maximum limit of 80,000 imposed on all concerts at Slane Castle.
The Slane Castle venue does *not* hold 120,000 as is wrongly indicated on the Queenconcerts website. I've noticed some other quite glaring errors regarding attendances on the (otherwise excellent) website and meant to point them out to Mr Scully.
