ANNOUNCE: Freddie Mercury - You're The Only One (demo)
| Rick 10.02.2006 10:13 |
Okay. Here is a rare demo (well, not anymore now, huh?:P) I don't care if it's rare or not. Besides, I don't really care about demos. This is just Freddie and his piano. I believe he recorded this in 1985 (in Munich???). I dunno if this is a solo project or a Magic-project (Magic session). Maybe Niek or John could tell something more about it?? Anyway, it's a nice little demo. Nice tune. Notice Freddie's cough at the end ;-). I hope you will all enjoy this as much as I do! link Cheers, Rick |

well it wasn't THAT rare, lol. But anyway, we really can't tell if this was meant for solo or for queen. It has been recorded in 85 if i'm not mistaken. And as far as I know there are no other versions of this song |

Yeah...I instantly recognized those 'beep' sounds at the mid-way point of the track. I suppose this was recorded by someone standing next to a set of speakers when it was played and they didn't turn off their cell-phone. |

"lol you guys need to..practice how to spell and learn grammar" In discussions of spelling and grammar, the use of the 'word' LOL instantly robs you of credibility. If I yawn any harder my jaw is going to fall off, leave me the hell alone. |

this last one is also better quality, mp3 320. Any lossless around? link You Are The Only One This is a very simple track, recorded in 1985 or 1986, which features just Freddie at a piano, singing a very rough outline for a song. The piano seems to be complete, but Freddie's vocals are mostly ad-libbed apart from a few lyrics. It is a very basic song, and could be intended either as a Freddie solo or Queen track. Length 1:59. Lyrics: Um, da, da, da Da, da, da, da, da, da, da I'm so sorry Got my head in the clouds Do, do, do, do, da, da, da, da Da, de, da, da, da You are the only one You are the only one Do, do, do, do Honey our love can be La, la, la, la, la, la, la Dee, dah You are the only one Do, do, do, do Do, do, do, do, do, do Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do I'm so sorry I'm so sorry Do, do, do, do, do, do Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do Na, na, na, na, na You are the only one Da, da, dee, dah Do, do, do, do Honey our love can be Do, do, do, do, do, do, do (Freddie coughs) |

to go a step futhere...is here in QZ a relatively good Demos and outtakes compilation? |
| GT 16.12.2009 11:21 |
OK here goes. DRINKS is how the track was originally written on the cassette and is an early version of NEW YORK. It is just Freddie on piano and part vocal. The time is 2.35. There was also two versions of WINDOWS on the cassette. The first has just Freddie on piano and part vocal and is 3.32 long. The second has Freddie on piano and part vocal, John on bass and Roger on drums and is 4.35 long. There is an Instrumental on it also and just features Freddie on piano and is 1.21 long. There is also SORRY / YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE which everybody knows about now. There is also another Instrumental with Freddie on piano, John on bass and Roger on drums and sounds like an early version of SANDBOX with scat vocals and is 1.24 long. |
