Hi there,
Is there anyone there who is able to tell me where was recorded "We Are the Champions" available on "Live Killers" ?
This is not Paris, neither Frankfurt, nor barcelona (20th).
Thanks a lot,
Cheers,
Franck
I think WATC is one of the songs we don't know where it was originally recorded. Bob is busy with discovering it (I think)
I heard it was recorded in Zagreb, Croatia. But I don't know for sure.
Check Bob's site for more info: link
There's speculation that the ending of Live Killers may be from Rotterdam (30th), because the audience sings a typically Dutch football chant ("Olé, olé..."). Perhaps then WATC is from the same concert. But with all the edits in this album, who knows for sure?
Thanks for your answers.
Unfortunately, Zagreb 1979 is not available (yet ?).
There's another possibility.
Freddie's vocals were not at their best during the Jazz European leg, don't think think so ?
Listen to the bootlegs : his voice often cracks, especially on Bo Rhap and above all WATC (the very special "But I've come through", " And I ain't gonna lose " and "Keep on Fighting !", you know what I mean)
So, somebody told me the begining of "Don't Stop me Now" ("I'm gonna hev myself etc...), was added on Live Killers edition. The sentences would have been taken from studio rehearsals, or something just like that (I'm not talking about Bob's analysis)
Indeed, by the way, I listenned to the bootlegs available from January to February, Brian's guitar replaces Freddie. Freddie starts with "Don't stop me, because i'm having a good time".
Do you think the same thing happened with WATC ?
Because I do believe there was no night Freddie had his voice in a perfect shape (on January and February 1979 only, of course), and was almost unable to sing WATC in 1979 just like a few years after.
Can anyone help me ?
Best regards from France
Franck

Could be, but I think WATC is from more than 1 concert, just as most of the songs on Live Killers.
The end is without no doubt, from one of the Rotterdam nights, because of the football-song. But that doesn't mean that the entire song is from Rotterdam. It's just a matter of copy and paste, really. It could also be from a bootleg which hasn't leaked (such as Zagreb, Hannover etc.)
The olé olé is also typical from spain and south american countries (but these are not possible because they went years after).....even the rolling stones say it...
