The Queen story is really an amazing one that needs to be seen on the big screen. If they don't make a biepic, they should at least produce a new up-to-date documentary, one that is a lot of more insightful than most of those clownish DoRo creations.
I agree Danny, if they do, I hope those useless DoRo's keep the fuck away, their abilities to produce a doco is second to many.
For once Queen should turn to a British production team to make a new doco that throws some heavy punches (not some lightweight Euro DoRo production crew) and are able to get there hands on unseen footages and old/rare interviews with the band, and not be afraid to offend or scare Queen fans about any interesting stuff that we have not heard or seen before, and of course have Brian and Roger involved to a certain extent.
Well I must say that DoRo did throw up some great moments, e.g. One Vision video amongst other things, but their ability to produce a coherent and insightful documentary rather sucks. They are too consumed with fancy editing than with trying to provide a proper chronological story. I mean, how many times have we seen Tie Your Mother Down and We Will Rock You "over the years"? I thought Champions Of The World was an utter disappointment. There are some really gross errors in that "documentary" that still puzzle me how they were kept in, e.g. many of the interviews, live footage, etc. has been 'credited' to the wrong year. In some cases, I think this was deliberate to make-up for a lack of footage from that particular year. Lame! Insulting us Queenfans...

On the other hand- we're getting MAKING OF ANATO in march... How cool's that?
For me the most anoying in Queen documentaries is when they say "Killer Queen" was their number 1 hit. Queen only have three number 1 singles until 1991, and no one can change that, but for some reason they like to hidde that from fans!!
Take care
I haven't seen it yet, but I'd like to hear what people thought of the Classic Albums documentary.
I have the DVDs on Who's Next?, Dark Side of the Moon and The Joshua Tree - and they're pretty enjoyable. Though sometimes I can see why the less-technical amongst us don't like them.
There have been TV "specials" over the years but I didn't rate them much.
I don't know how aware fellow posters are of The South Bank show. It's an ITV production (here in the UK) which broadcasts on a range of arts and culture issues. Melvyn Bragg who presents has done some fabulous shows on a range of artists, the best I've seen being Pete Townshend (though that was a long time ago). He even did one on The Darkness on tour a couple of years ago, IIRC?
If any show was going to tackle the subject of Queen seriously, it would be that. I have often tinkered with writing to the show to say "consider this for a programme". The thought, however, of some pimply, 21year-old sarf London "researcher" putting my letter in the bin with a greasy grin somewhat put me off.
Should we put a little campaign together....?
