According to this interview with Brian... ( link )
"The last thing he ever sang was Mother Love. He was going for it harder and higher and more passionate than ever. He got to the penultimate verse and said, 'I can't do any more. I'll come back and finish it another day when I feel good.' But he never did."

Indeed sad.

When ever I listen to the album 'Made In Heaven' I start crying....That album is so sad...
Brian didn't sing it because Freddie died. The voice you hear from Brian was the demo vocal he did. So it was recorded before Freddie did his parts. And they used that vocal because Freddie didn't had the time to finish it.

I don't think there was a (full) demo vocal since the lyrics weren't complete yet.
I remember reading that Brian would scribble lyrics on sheets of paper then hand them to Freddie so he could sing them. He would sing these various words til they found something that worked.
I don't think there were entire verses constructed for a demo.
The quote that suppports tht was a general one about recording in 1991, not a specific one about Mother Love, I thought.
So both arguments could be valid, although I'd be surprised if Brian didn't re-record a demo vocal once it became necesary to use it on the master.
I've tried listening to it, but even before the vocal comes it, it's sad. It still brings many a tear to my eye, just like No-One But You, made me cry for ages. Teo Torriatte used to, but now, not so much. And You Take My Breath Away has a really sad piano sound.
Okay, now I've listened, I've got to say, the fact that they rewind from One Vision (Wembley?) all the way back to Goin' Back before Queen makes it all the more sadder. And what's with the baby crying? Still real sad, but no tears (yet).

You know what part gets me every time? Freddie's hearty "day-oh" with the audience. :-( I have to turn it off before it reaches that part, otherwise I wind up crying.
It doesn't make much sense that they were scribbling lyrics on the day, yet there would be a complete Brian May final verse from before-hand.
Of course, if there's a demo there then I'm happy to be proved wrong - I just wonder why they wouldn't record it again (write better lyrics, whatever).
