Say it's not true is about receiving a letter telling you whether your application to Univerity was succesful or not. Staying Power is about AIDS I'm affraid...
As far as i'm aware SAY IT'S NOT TRUE is certainly about aids and the suffering it bring's if you are a queen fan you will know this from the queen plus paul rodgers concerts, roger does state this at most of the gigs.
Staying power could be about the strength of the band as a unit but then again it could also be about relationships.
Staying Power: a simple love song about how one person thinks he and another person might make a good match.
Say It's Not True: well it *is* about AIDS. It's written by Roger for Nelson Mandela's 46664 project, but somehow I think you know that already. It's about how the disease can devastate a life, how it can happen to anyone, and how unfair it is that people in poor countries cannot get the same treatment as we can in the west. Since the song doesn't specifically mention AIDS, it could be about any life threatening disease.

SP- MAKING LOVE, c'mon, what else :)
Oh baby, I want to make love to you- let's get it on, oh yeah...
Hmm- sounds familiar... ;)
PS
I love the "blow baby blow" bit ;)
Brenda's right. According to Mr Freestone the song was going to be called "F***ing power"- i think it reflected Fred's "tastes" at the time. I love the live version- it's so energetic.
Staying Power: That Queen was still together after, let's say, 10 years. They kept each other interested. Unless what the press say. (remember Freddie's quote during the London '78 concert?)
Naah, I don't know, but heck, it could be...:P
Lester Burnham wrote: Staying Power is indeed a reference to Freddie's sexual... dynamics. His "staying power" in bed, if you will.
I also heard that. In a biography i have written that Freddie was really into the Munich gay scene when queen were recording Hot Space. Brian didn't like some lyrics Freddie wrote so some things were changed....Makes me wonder if their are more out-takes apart from the available ones

Well, that sounds like the slang for "virility" (as in the ability to have a prolonged erection). It's either that or I'm way off-course. (link
I'm not sure if Barry White meant the same thing with his "Staying Power", or why Queen's lyrics specify that "you and me we got Staying Power".
It must be something else then. It's just a hypothesis, do not throw with stones.
Body Languaje aside, a lot of HOT SPACE is 'sexually oriented' in terms of 'meaning'. I also remember Peter telling that Freddie's original opening line from what later become Life Is Real was "C*nt stains on my pillow". Sorry if I offended somebody, but that is indeed true. I wonder what Freddie was in at that time... ;-)

Maybe Staying Power refers to longevity of loving - in all it's forms - physical, emotional, etc.
