Has anyone ever suggested that "Everybody Wants You" is a song about Freddie Mercury? When I listen to the lyrics, it sounds very much like a description of Freddie and his life... "any way the wind blows". What are your thoughts?
Billy Squier did a tribute to Freddie at the play called "Mercury: Afterlife of a Rock God." It was very touching and heartfelt. He also had a song on his last Capitol album called "Shocked Straight" which could mean that he may certainly have been gay, and certainly may have written "Everybody wants you" about Freddie. Or anyone. He did have another song on the same album called "Hercules", and while I don't give a shit about who does what with whom, it intrigued me because it was a song about lost love, and one of the lyrics was "But Hercules is not my middle name." The only person I've ever heard of with the middle name Hercules is Elton "Hercules" John. I'm wondering if Billy Squier lost a lover to Elton once.
I can hear David Furnish now... "Hercules! Hercules!"
That's some keen detective work there, but he still wears those pink shirts that make him look like a british cigarette.

Wow, i never looked at it that way. Interesting.
I mean, I knew that Freddie and Billy were friends; I mean, Freddie appeared on Emotions In Motion and Lady With The Tenor Sax (also on a demo of Love Is The Hero).
Also, Squier and Queen sold out Madison Square Garden 2 nights in a row in 1982. I'm sure it was one hell of an experience, too bad I wasn't alive yet (5 years later would have done it :p )
But it's all good. Excellent interpretation of the song, it could be that way. I knew he put the line "any way the wind blows" in there for some reason!
that ain't him. Here ya go:
(CNN) -- Dropping a political bombshell, New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey announced his resignation Thursday after revealing that he is gay and that he had an adulterous affair with a man.
With his wife standing by his side, McGreevey -- a father of two -- spoke in calm tones as he described his struggle with his sexuality, "a certain sense that separated me from others." It was something that he said began as a child.
we got our lines crossed about 5 posts ago. So for the record:
1. Billy is gay.
2. James McGreevy is gay.
3. I have no knowledge of them humping each other. (hadn't used that word in a while plus I don't know what they call it. Redecorating?)
4. I have no idea why I'm pursuing this. Maybe I'm gay. Let me check...
*snap* *click* *ding*
Nope, not gay. Happy, yes.
Hercules (Billy Squier)
I can't stop...it always gets the best of me
I can't stop...been holdin' out so long
I can't stop...whenever you get close to me
I can't stop...I'm really not that strong
I don't wanna grow apart
I don't wanna drift away
I don't wanna come apart
We can surely find a way
Now I don't mind...lookin' at the photographs
I find myself...holdin' back the tears
And I don't mind...when I read the words you wrote to me
'Cause I got time...to silence all my fears
I don't want us torn apart
I don't wanna slip away
I don't want us torn apart
Give me just another day
I don't wanna throw it all away
I don't wanna lose my hold
I don't wanna throw it all away
I don't wanna lose my...whoa...
I can't stop...I'm holdin' back the memories
But Hercules...is not my middle name
Walls will fall...and you'll be standin' next to me
And Hercules...will never be the same
I don't wanna fall apart
I don't wanna fade away
I don't wanna fall apart
Give me just another day
Is the video 'Rock Me Tonight'?
I had the LP 'Tale of the Tape' before 'The Stroke' was a hit, always liked him, saw him with Queen in '82, but, I have to admit, the way he pranced around in that video...well....
That video virtually ruined Billy Squier. He said that it didn't turn out anything like he envisioned and felt mislead by the video director. Then again, he collapsed in a supermarket right at the time of Emotions in Motion, because Mack's mix was horrible, and Billy had to remix it right until the minute it was going to print. How much control do performers have with their careers?
