I've seen many a reference to a concert at which Queen and Aerosmith both performed at. What I want to know is--which group was headlining? Or was it a shared top-bill, like the Bryan Adams/Def Leppard bill that toured the US last year? Please respond.
Dont know who performed first, but I think both bands were supporting Mott The Hoople. I remember reading about Brian and Joe Perry getting smashed on JD before the show resulting in Brian hardly able to stand.
May 74 in Harrisburg, PA (my first concert)
At the WOF meet n'greet, when us newlyweds were pushed up to Brian by Jacky, I mentioned this to him.
To our surprise, he said, 'Ah, yes, the ol' Farm Arena.' Obviously, that night still sticks out in his memory. Not the details, but because of the amount of liquids consumed.
Aerosmith was first up that night, Mott last. They were the headliners. No idea how good Mott was, as I headed out to our van and passed out ten minutes into their gig.
Must have been something in the air that night...

So Queen were the middle act? I'm not too certain I understand, lol.
Mott was the headliner (sorry for the vague sentence).
The HOF ceremony.....would have been rather cool for Brian & Roger to do 'TYMD' or even 'Stone Cold Crazy' with Steven Tyler/Joe Perry et al. I really thought that since these two bands had toured a short spell together eons ago, to be inducted the same year, that there would have been a couple of tracks performed just between the two of them.
Would have been a lot of fun to see Brian trading off guitar licks on 'Walk This Way' as well. Very memorable at that.
Along with Billy Squier being absent at the Freddie Tribute, Aerosmith's absence struck me just as well. Bad blood or bad timing?
I'm actually sitting about five miles from the Farm Show Arena right now.
I don't know about the acoustics in that place (I assume not too good), but every time I am in there I imagine seeing Queen up on stage. Oddly enough, I have only been to the arena for rodeos, and one hunting/fishing show.

Okay, Aerosmith was first, Mott headlined. My question is, where do Queen fit in? They performed in the middle of those two?
I actually wrote a sarcastic response, but deleted it on the basis that your question was obviously rhetorical.
If you have confirmed that Aerosmith played first, and that Mott played last, and you know that Queen played at some point, why do you need anyone else to confirm the basic logical conclusion that Queen must have played between the two?
Very logical conclusion.
Sorry, I must have been sleeping at my desk this weekend. Or playing hookey. Never could stand that Ben Stein as my teacher;-)
Accoustics? Hell, I don't know if they were good or not. To me, it was great, cuz I'd never been to a concert before.
Could be why 'Procession/Father to Son' is still my all-time favorite. THAT I remember.
I stopped by the arena six years ago for the first time since that night. Glad it's still standing.
Still surprised that Brian has played Wembley, Madison Square Garden, Hyde Park, etc etc....and yet could still name a nondescript building in Harrisburg from a concert 30 years ago.
