Hi everybody,
I love to collect Queen bootlegs, just like many people registered on QueenZone.
As I like to share my opinions concerning recordings I have already or to listen to comments concerning bootlegs I'd like to have, I'd like to know your tastes about the following bootlegs :
24/12/1975 - Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK
06/06/1977 - Earls Court, London, UK
25/04/1979 - Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan (available on video and audio)
05/09/1984 - Wembley Arena, London, UK
09/08/1986 - Knebworth Park, Stevenage, UK
What do you think about those gigs ?
Cheers,
Franck

Great performance! All four of them do an excellent job. Too bad that the video doesn´t contain SSOR and SWAFIB. Videoquality is great, so is the audio.
06/06/1977 - Earls Court, London, UK
Good show, for a bootleg great videoquality and excelent sound. Great setlist as well.
25/04/1979 - Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan (available on video and audio)
Nice bootleg. Freddie´s throat is a bit of a problem, but I like this one.Good videoquality, great sound
Hi Rick,
I think Tokyo Budokan shows (13-14-23-24-25/04/79) is great, just like each show during Queen legs in Japan. Indeed, Freddie was completely hoarse in the end of the tour (video of 25/04/79 available, of course).
But I do like the Japanese fans. Roger Taylor's Im In love with my car is FANTASTIC !!!
Have you ever heard his voice on Don't Stop me Now ? Freddie was so hoarse thay he couldn't sing the chorus ("200 degrees, thats' why the call me Mr Farenheit, I'm travelling at the speed of light" etc...). Roger was definitley great.
Very nice but incomplete versions of let me Entertain You ans We Will Rock You (fast).
What do you think about freddie with Superman ? AMAZING !!!
This is absolutely a great gig. But video edition incomplete... What a shame !!! (At least, Sheer heart Attcak said to be recorded at paris, pavillon on 27-02-79) was recorded at tokyo Budokan (25-04-79) too.
Cheers,
Franck

Nothing special. Too overrated. Weak setlist. But a killer version of Brighton Rock, which is in my mind the highlight of the show. I miss many pearls, like Flick, Prophet etc. But since I have this in superb quality, it's nice to listen to.
06/06/1977 - Earls Court, London, UK
Probably the most bootlegged show of Queen. Love the setlist and I love this version of Death On Two Legs. Also the opening is great, with the big rising crown. But again, way too overrated, it's not really a great show. Roger has some problems hitting the high notes. The bootlegvideo may sound false, but that is owning to the tapespeed. There is a clean version (owned by QP). But an enjoyable show to watch, they seemed to have good time. And you can hear John sing a few times, which is nice.
25/04/1979 - Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan (available on video and audio)
Something really different. I love the Jazz tour, because they played many rock songs. At this stage, Freddie has its worst moments. The Japanese Jazz tour is certainly one of their worst tours. But they did a great version of Teo Torriatte (love the Japanese audience sing). But Freddie can't seem to hit any good note at all, which is a pity (same thing happened in Kanazawa). But overall, a nice show. And I love the video, especially the opening is great.
05/09/1984 - Wembley Arena, London, UK
Freddie's birthday. I haven't got this bootleg. I think it's worthwhile listening to it. Review comes later...
09/08/1986 - Knebworth Park, Stevenage, UK
Ah yes, the last Queen show. It's legendary and yes, it is certainly one of their best shows, but IMHO not the best Magic-show. Shows that are better IMHO are the ones in Stockholm, Paris, Leiden, Budapest and the one in Mannheim. Freddie's voice is really stunning at the beginning of the tour, I also love the complete version of Friends Will Be Friends. But Knebworth is a great show, good atmosphere, and offcourse Deaky throwing his bass is a nice and suprisingly moment. They really enjoyed this concert and they gave everything. Queen ended this tour with real Magic. What a great band!
24/12/1975 - Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK
Overrated... Not their best night, not the best setlist (unfortunately shortened for the TV...)- there are good moments, though. And the quality is absolutely amazing!!! But as pointed out before me- really miss Flick or Prophet's song or Sweet Lady... Wasn't the best night for Freddie- missed few queues, hit few false notes- and I can't get the feeling out of this one, the whole band seems a bit tied... But it's probably one of the most enjoyable bootlegs out there...
06/06/1977 - Earls Court, London, UK
Again- popular, quality very nice (although it's not perfect), and again... a bit overrated. Setlist is really nice, but Fred had better evenings prior to this show and after this show the same year (NOTW 1977 American Tour is just brilliant). He has problems with his voice, Roger had better nights vocally... Of course- there's the ultimate version of You Take My Breath Away... And few other gems... I dunno- not as perfect as many say...
25/04/1979 - Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan (available on video and audio)
I love the JAZZ Tour... But European leg, not Japanesse... This one I only heard from mp3, but... You somehow feel sorry for Freddie listening to those Japanesse 1979 nights...
05/09/1984 - Wembley Arena, London, UK
Really don't like Works tour... Enjoyable show, somehow special because of Fred's birthday, but... I think I listened to it once and that's it... Just like most WORKS recordings...
09/08/1986 - Knebworth Park, Stevenage, UK
Now we're talking! Not a big fan of MAGIC TOUR, but this show is A MUST! Great performance, as can be heard on LIVE MAGIC. I love the bootleg sound- somehow it's one of the few audience recordings that captured the atmosphere... Hot, summer day, many, MANY people, kind of festival atmosphere... And the way the crowd sings... One of the best bootlegs out there, one of their best shows EVER. If someone doesn't have it... have to really do something about it!
25/04/1979 - Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan (available on video and audio)

It was great, but shortened setlist, I really missed The Prophet's Song and Sweet Lady. But they were on top.
06/06/1977 - Earls Court, London, UK
IMO it sucked, Roger's voice was awful and they were lazy.
25/04/1979 - Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan (available on video and audio)
Haven't listened to it much to get an opinion.
05/09/1984 - Wembley Arena, London, UK
Haven't heard.
09/08/1986 - Knebworth Park, Stevenage, UK
Queen's last and one of the few Magic Tour concert I like very much.
