What kind of procession did bri refer to?
A religious one?
Or something looking like a parade?
I thought processions were just in catholic countries (that is, something rather odd in UK)
Its the procession of an army in which a father goes off to battle against the Black army of Rhye, leaving a note to his son.
Where oh where is that website explaining the concept of Queen II?!
Now it comes to me that it could be a procession for a queen to be crowned, considering how much Queen II is cramped with queens.
Good idea, looking up the dictionary and leaving you queenzoners in peace, if it wasn't for the fact that a dictionary won't ever tell you what a guy called brian may meant with that title.
I don't think it is supposed to have any religious overtones. I think Brian just wrote the music, and thought it sounded like a Procession, so that was what he named it.
From what he writes on his website, I think he's not religious, but quite spiritual.
I suspected that too...but because of my cultural backgroud the word procession made me immediately think about something religious (which was a bit depressing). But the father leaving to make war was lovely.
Theres only two Queens - the Black Queen and the White Queen, leaders of the two armies battling in the world of Rhye.
Damn it, why can I not find that website!

Davie: Do not place so much faith in that interpretation - it is only the speculative view of some fan after all.
I for one hold different views - but I do not present those as gospel.
My only concern is that such views can be interpreted as both accurate and official - and this makes people lazy - as they then become too reliant on what others think - rather than using their own God-given reasoning.
r we talking about the song or its religion meaning. if its religion then i have no clue but if its the song then i think its great, unique and one of the songs off of one of my top favorite CDs

If you wanted to know what Brian May meant, why ask people who aren't him?

If I wanted to know your opinion, dear thanks, I would have asked for it...

MMMM...war...makes you feel all pink & fluffy doesn't it?
No dear war doesn't make me feel happy at all...By the way have you ever heard about epic?If I really loved war the first thing I would do would be uselessly provoking people on boards.
1. it sounds like something moving slowly and purposefully
2. the song makes it's procession into the next song....seamlessly
so there you go...it's simple

You asked for everyone's opinions by starting the thread, you numpty.
I look forward to your next illuminative response in another 6 weeks, once you've had time to look up all the long words...
Thanks thanks, but thanks to whom?
to Nature that made your mind so crooked?
To the good Lord, who your beastly lips unglued?
To your big ass, that tons of nice posts fuelled?
Thanks thanks, from the bottom of my heart,
which is so thankful,
that leaves you with a fart.
And if you want more, beastly cad, you have just to ask.

Now, coming back to a nice chat with nice people, yes, the general impression is of a never ending piece of music, which makes the whole album sound operatic.
I think it is perfectly valid to pose a question pertinent to a songwriter's mindset on a notice board for that writer. Fans of a certain artist are often familiar with such knowledge. It is quite reasonable for a non-hardcore Queen fan to not know that Queen's song meanings are often not known or disclosed by band members.
On the other hand, it is also quite reasonable for Queenzone to be a hostile environment, and that a poster does so at his own risk. To be honest, that's one of the reasons I love it here!
