"However, the reader currently costs approximately US$15,000, and a single disc currently costs approximately US$120."
Guess we'll have to wait a couple of years.. -.-'
Regarding the boxset, I think thats what the idea was Baz. Given the huge amount of material there is in the Queen vault Queen Prod are gonna wait till a new format comes out so they can throw everything onto 1 disc instead of about 20 DVD's. And given that it will probably be another 10 years before this thing becomes an affordable houeshold item that should give them another 10 or so years to sort the boxset out! Yay! Well it's a plausible excuse anyway!
Ah well we can always rely on the musical to break new barriers in far flung frontiers to keep the highly regarded "Queen" name moving along for the next decade. Oh yeah and that Paul Rodgers thing... ;)
(BTW I had a dream that they toured with Will Young. I say dream, more like a fucking nightmare)
Hi. Sorry for my VERY delayed reply!
I've been very busy the past few weeks helping co-produce some demo recordings by my friend's band "Unbalanced" (more on that at a later time).
Yeah, I think that's insane that HVD will have over 3TB of data, but cool at the same time.
However, yeah, they probably will be expensive at first, and also I think they're actually 13cm in size, not 12cm like normal CD/DVD/BD/HD-DVD discs.

That's actually the price for a COMPETING technology called Tapestry Media, not HVD discs.
I'm sure they (HVD discs) will be much cheaper than that.
Right now, I'm looking forward to Blu-Ray's launch in April this year (which is also the month of my birthday).
Speaking of which, I should mention to you guys out there, especially those with HDTV sets, that HD-DVD players will only output, as far as HDMI goes, in 1080i and 720p max. for resolution, as opposed to 1080i/1080p for Blu-Ray, to sum up a quick point.
Will talk to you guys more about this later. :)
Blu-Ray should be really good. Just a shame that so much stuff is now on DVD, we will have to get copiers in the computer to move multiple DVDs onto one Blu-Ray.
Yes, I have seen HDTV's, though most of the time in stores they are displaying movies that they're trying to sell (at the time) on DVD format.
I did see a true HDTV demo once though, with some wildlife shots, and I must say I was very impressed. It was from a certain Canadian HDTV provider that was basically advertising it (so there weren't any actual TV/movie programs being shown). I think it was from Bell ExpressVu, actually.
It's definitely WAY less blocky in the images than on DVD, if not almost completely realistic!
If you think DVD's look "awesome", wait until you see REAL high definition TV! It has nothing on DVD's.

Yeah. And apparently, a DL 50GB BD-R disc can fit 6 DL (8.5GB) DVD discs! (And/Or 77 650MB CD discs as well!)
Watching true HDTV is like looking through a window according to my brother who has seen it in the US. That's actually the popular opinion of it.
I've played on an Xbox 360 set up correctly on an HDTV and the quality is magnifique to say the least.
Barry do you have cable TV? Telewest are coming out with something called TV Drive which is a set top box which supports HDTV. Its similar to Sky+ but a bit better apparently. You need an HD ready TV of course to view in proper HD. Also depends on what channels are to be broadcast in HD, I think the BBC and Sky channels will be the first.

I saw someone playing King Kong on XBox 360 at FutureShop on a fancy HDTV set, and I must say that that game looked awesome in HD as well! Definitely miles above the original XBox.
linkFeb 8, 2006 - Sony Announces Pricing for Blu-ray Movies
Sony Pictures on Tuesday became the first major studio to put a price tag on Blu-ray discs when they become available in US stores this year. Catalog Blu-ray disc titles will wholesale for $17.95, about the same as DVDs when that format hit the market in 1997. New-release Blu-ray discs will wholesale for $23.45, a premium of 15%-20% over what suppliers were charging for new theatrical DVDs. The higher pricing structure for new releases is meant to accommodate the sell-through and rental markets, said Benjamin Feingold, president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. He added that Sony will not attach any suggested list prices to its Blu-ray discs, at least not at this time. "From the retail perspective, this is going to be a hot product, and retailers will no doubt determine their own margin structure," he said. "We believe in a free market." Blu-ray discs likely will start showing up in stores by early summer.
Those prices aren't too bad, I should say. Certainly slightly better than what I thought they were going to charge originally...
