is it true that people used to chuck razors on the stage when he was playing live, just as a joke because he had the moustache, i read it somewhere im sure

Pretty much like the Q+PR bashers today. They can't accept change, and thus they demonize it. We've had that throughout history, from the inquisition to the Salem trials to the McCarthy-era to Bryans Permed Pants.
But pr is not worth half freddie's moustache:
I'd rather see Freddie with a bush on his face that pr perfectly shaved and alive.

How did the band react to that? Freddie must have had something to say to the audience, no?
I kind of always wondered. Was it "open" razor blades (just the blade, no covering on the blade)[pretty unsafe] or did some audiences throw the diposible blades [relitivly safe] with the covering on them?
If it was the former, that would be pretty visious, and probably stop the show.

I was at a Queen concert in Oakland Californis right after Freddie grew the moustache.
YES....some razors were tossed up on stage.
Freddie picked one up and threw it back into the audience, saying: "Why don't you go shave your hairy asshole"
The audience LOVED it! Freddie could always win over his audience.
I saw Queen about 4 or 5 times years ago. One thing I remember is that fans always threw long stemmed red roses up to Freddie.
Freddie would gather up the the flowers and bouquets and carry them around for a song and finally unwrap the bouquets before flinging all the roses back to the fans. Boy did those lucky fans scramble to get those souvenir roses!

That's hilarious
On some of the Game Tour bootlegs Freddie would ask what the crowd thought of his moustache. The reaction was mixed but he told them to "fuck off" if they didn't like it. I don't remember if he said anything when I saw them in Providence on that tour. It's not on the boot of that show I have but it is on others.
