Great news... very odd that there's still such a huge difference between men and women in some countries and cultures! |
Sonia Doris 22.01.2006 10:58 |
Indeed... I completely agree with you. I know that in Romania it's a fake equality between men an women... I feel lucky though to be born here, instead of Saudi Arabia for example, where I wouldn't have been able even to drive... |

I agree. Women are people too. They are as good (if not, better) than men. But the sexism doesnt just bite women. Like if a little girl enjoys football or coined "manly" activites, she's a darling little tom boy. Yet if a young boy plays with dolls, he is a fucking queer. |

Speaking of feminism, does anybody know what everyone got all bent up about during one of the Harvard President's speeches? The whole thing really didn't make much sense at all. I read it, and nothing really seemed to jump out at me at all. If you don't remember, I believe he merely suggested that perhaps one of the reasons that women are largely absent in the fields of science and technology were due to inherent differences in men and women. He also gave several reasons, including societal treatment of the different sexes. |

Doesnt help that when he was asked about it he said yes I stand by the statement that women are inferior to men in the areas of maths and sciences when he had gracefully suggested it in his speech. I didnt get it (nor did I care) when he visited Wellesley to give a speech on economics. Of course every Wellesley woman had her tail feathers ruffled. I just think they get excited over anything though. |

Generalizing is a bad idea. Any time you are going to imply that all of one group is a certain way, somebody is going to jump to make you look dumb to prove a point. |
Sonia Doris 30.01.2006 13:34 |
Indeed, I agree about the generalizing thing. That's why I tend to keep myself somewhat moderated in matters like this... I get angry when a certain category is mistreated due to more or less obvious differences, but still... I won't go and say things like All men are pigs. I could go with a sillogism... All men are pigs All pigs are eaten So all men are eaten. Doesn't really work, does it? |
