Better to find DVDs converted from Laser Discs. If the convertion was done by professional people quality will be not much worse then on the officilal DVDs. Good luck!
I was talking about the quality of the performance, which is definately not as bad as some people say...
But I agree with you that it was filmed in a quite bad way.
it wasn't THAT bad- I can agree, but let's face it- not their best. far from it. That would be probably the least favourite choice for me for future DVD Collection release...
Hopefully Live in Budapest will be released with much bonus material.
I have the concert on VHS and the pirate dvd aswell. I really enjoy these bits with each of the band members, but these are too short. I think they have taped more material, most of it should be released.
Rio has its good moments, but overall, the 84-85 performances were pretty stale. The first few 84 shows are good and strong, but they started hating each other quickly again. There are a couple good shows in Japan 85 as well, but these shows still pale in comparison to their 75-78 golden era.
I'd welcome a DVD release of Rio, but it's probably the last thing on my QP want list.

What I've heard of Budapest is great stuff. Visually it's bound to be better as well because it was actually *filmed* (from what I've seen/heard anyway) as opposed to being shot on videotape.
Didn't Brian May bitch about the people who have the rights to the concert video?

"Didnt brian bitch about the people who hold the rights ........" - no he was talking about Saul swimmer , the guy who holds the rights to the wwry , montreal video footage from 1981. Compared to The much bootlegged Live in Japan , Rio pales into comparison .
I'd like to see Budapest. Fred's voice sounds great on it- much better than at Wembley and The Works tour would be good too. I disagree completely with a reviewer who said it was a bad tour- rubbish. They went back and did Great King Rat etc. and I liked their policy of covering every album- they should have done that in '86.
