It's still better than most of the songs from WORKS and it bits entire Mr Bad Guy... They had worse... |
Serry... 19.01.2006 11:54 |
I knew that Tom couldn't resist to say SOMETHING about The Works album :) Don't Try Suicide is worst than this one, IMHO. |
Bobby_brown 19.01.2006 11:57 |
Mr Bad Guy it's an outstanding album! I think Freddie was saving his best songs for his solo release, and in my opinion that's why the "Works" sucks big time! Take care |

Serry... wrote: I knew that Tom couldn't resist to say SOMETHING about The Works album :)Nope, couldn't :) C'mon- it's def better than MACHINES and Man on the Prowl put together!!! |

"Keep Passing the opened windows" is a great song and definitely could have been a single release. Better than "Hammer To Fall" in my opinion. By the way, "Keep passing..." always sounded a bit "unfinished" to me. Anyone else who agrees with this? I also like the "Mr Bad Guy"-album and it seems that during "The Works"-sessions Freddie saved most of his energy for his solo project. |
Fairy 19.01.2006 12:51 |
I actually love it, both for the rhythm and the lyrics. I like the verses much better than the chorus. And it's a great performance by Freddie. I love his 80s voice and here he sounds at his best. |
Lester Burnham 19.01.2006 13:01 |
Would have been a great single, probably better than 'Hard Life' (sorry, it is a great song and all, but probably a bit too personal; nevermind that it went on to No. 6 in the UK!), but needed a bit of trimming. That extended "just believe, just keep passing the open windows" outro was way too long. Of course, it beats the crap out of 'Man on The Prowl', 'Tear It Up', and the album version of 'Break Free' any day. |

Serry... wrote: I knew that Tom couldn't resist to say SOMETHING about The Works album :) Don't Try Suicide is worst than this one, IMHO.I usually love everything you say Serry but surely you can't hate Don't try suicide. How could anyone hate that song, it's like a sequel to the bicycle race. I imagine if Mack wasn't there it would've been filled with harmonies and overdubs. It's a clash of the stripped down Queen Mack was trying to bring in and the old Queen, I love the song. On the song mentioned in this thread, I love it (trying to avoid the kptow acronym lol) The heavy riff before the verses is so nice. I love the tempo too but could I see how others could think it's a crap song? Yeah, easily but not so from Don't Try Suicide. The works is their worst album by far because it was just bland and mediocre from what I've heard (meaning every song on the album lol) Hot Space isn't great but it still has some residue from the earlier Queen left over on it. People only say it's the worst because it was beginning of the "dark pweriod" the works was extremely mediocre and IMO is by far the lowest ranked Queen album, followed by AKOM, which was a lil less mediocre. Ironically the only two Queen albums I don't own. I listen to all vinyl anyway but it says something when I don't shell out the 3 or 4 bucks it'll take to get second hand copies of those albums...it says I'm a lazy bum lol |

I love Bicycle Race- DTS doesn't deserve to polish it's handlebar! Keep passing... is okay, don't listen to it very much, it's one of those I always skip. But it's better than Man on the prowl (the only Queensong I can't stand) Machines I like. |

YOU CALL YOUR SELF QUEEN FANS AT LEAST YOU SHOULD LIKE MOST OF ALL THE ALBUMS TO BE A QUEEN FAN. AND THE WORLS ALBUMS GAVE US SUCH GREAT SONGS AS I WANT TO BREAK FREE AND IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED AND HAMMER TO FALL. I BET ANY OF YOU HAD THE OPPUTUNITY TO MEET ONE OF THE BAND MEMBERS WOULD SAY THAT THEY ALL WERE GREAT ALBUMS. COME ON PEOPLE LETS BE POSITIVE. THERE IS TO MUCH HATE IN THE WORLD. SORRY MAY SPELLING SUCKS |

I happen to like the song, not a lot, but I can certainly think of a few that I really don't like (i.e. Loser in the End), but I'd still take the worst Queen songs over almost everybody else's "Best". |

SORRY MAY SPELLING SUCKSAlright I think I managed to figure out most of this word vomit... Firstly, there's a difference between being a fan and being a psychotic fanatic. Guess which one you fall under. Secondly, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Some people prefer the 70's stuff over the 80's stuff. Some Queen tracks are weaker than others (Don't Try Suicide, IMHO). Oh well, life goes on. And no, I would not lie to Brian and Roger and say I liked every single thing Queen (not Queen+) has ever done. Thirdly, You, nor anyone, has any authority or say-so in who is a "real" Queen fan. I personally think a Queen fan should be defined as someone who can honestly respect the band as musicians and genuinely enjoy their music. The best thing is that no Queen album sounds the same. And if someone doesn't like Hot Space or The Works or Queen II, then so be it. It's all in what that person is into. Don't go stomping in here ready to tear ass just because somebody is trying to be honest about their musical tastes. Getting back on topic, I really like KPTOW a lot. It's very inspiring for me. And I think some find it sounding "unfinished" because it was originally a Freddie solo project that he hoped would be included in the film Hotel New Hampshire (where the title comes from). I think this song wouldn't have fit the structure of the Mr Bad Guy album at all. I don't doubt that if the song was put in the vault, it'd make a lovely rarity to have. |

Suddenly my hatred for the tripe that are 'Body Language', 'Staying Power', 'Coming Soon', 'Fun It', 'Mustapha', 'More Of That Jazz', 'Flash', 'Tear It Up', 'Man On The Prowl', 'Don't Lose Your Head', 'Party', 'My Baby Does Me', and 'Delilah' have melted away. Keep Passing The Open Windows is tied with Is This The World We Created for the best song on The Works and definitely should've been a single instead of Hammer To Fall. It's a great song, and by the way, The Works doesn't suck and is their second best 80's album behind The Miracle. I rank it slightly behind other studio albums: 1. Innuendo 2. A Night At The Opera 3. The Miracle 4. A Day At The Races 5. The Works 6. The Game 7. Sheer Heart Attack 8. Queen 9. Made In Heaven 10. Queen II 11. Hot Space 12. News Of The World 13. Jazz 14. A Kind Of Magic 14. Flash Gordon I know this will kill all you Queen II lover's but I see it as just barely top 10. Though I'm not bashing it, I love all the albums. Just my opinion. Don't hate me. |

It actually is a fabulous song. The lyrics are fantastic and the vocals, the piano and it's nice and fast. Really fabulous song. Also "Don't Try Suicide" is a classic. I mean that rhytm, nice and slow than it suddenly get's rocking. |
