when recording this did they mess around with freddies voice in it, i know they did in the opera bit and they made roger sound like a little girl. apparently in the studio they can change the pitch of your voice or something along them lines, bit like mastering or something like that, and did freddie sing it all in one or sing it bit by bit and then put the vocals all together?
Yeah got it, i watched disk 2 ages ago but cant remem it, all i remember was brian sitting in front of one of them sound boards, and remember roger siting on a couch, i wouldnt watch it again though because when roger and brian talk about the past on a dvd it just completely bores me. i dunno if it was on that disk where they made roger sound like a girl, u could hear them messing about on the soundboard with his voice,
Oh! Now I know what you mean, it was Roger, Brian and Freddie sounding all like girls, and then back to sounding like boys just to make that 'Thunder and lightning very, very frightening -- me!' part. Right?
How I was able to stand that whole thing, I don't know.
No one made Roger sound 'like a girl'. He sings in a falsetto to achieve the highest notes in Bohemiam Rhapsody.
If it is so boring to listen to Brian's explanation of how Bohemian Rhapsody was mastered then why do you even care enough to come here and ask? Who better than one of the band to give an accurate reply?

And if he would use multiple recorders, he could do that easily.
Ok the first part (intro) its just freddie multi tracking, during the opera section its Freddie Roger and Brian multi tracking. Your dad is a complete cretin as Roger has one of the best voices ever. Thank you and good day.

Your dad is an idiot lol
Agreed.
Just because he was wrong doesn't make him an idiot. We all know all the vocals were Deaky's, QOWs dad doesn't. That doesn't make him an idiot.

Sorry, I still have to believe him. He does sound shit all the time for his own band. He even did it for the Red Hot Chili Peppers when they came to Wisconsin
We record the same way Dad told us to by recording one tone of vocal then playing it and singing with it to another recorder. That works the easiest although it takes a while.

Just too bad that there are THREE DISTINCTIVELY DIFFERENT voices in the harmonies. If your dad does sound and can't recognize the difference between three voices that are quite far apart in timbre, he must be pretty awful at his job!
Wow, your Dad sounds like he knows his shit. I'd advise him to call his mates Brian and Rog (as they all know each other in the sound shit business) and tell them not to talk such crap on their DVDs - I mean really!! Fancy Roger pretending he did that high bit when it was clearly Freddie. It's probably one of those sound-shit business in-jokes!! Next thing, Roger will be pretending he did the vocals on that Car song on the B side!!!
;o)
