In school i once had to be FM for an Irish (Gailge)play. We had to sing (BORHAP) but with our own twist. Bertie Ahern (IrelandsPM) was going to get killed by his stalker(Bono). So Freddie Had to warn him. (but in the end Bertie gets killed and Freddie gets really pissed off with him in heaven) It was great criac. Everyone who saw the play said i looked like Freddie(and sounded like) During the play i knocked over a few desks but i just said ''at least someone's worshiping the ground i walk on'' Very Freddie like don't you think????????????????? Have you ever had to translate Queen songs?????? |

Yes...I've tried singing Bohemian Rhapsody in Afrikaans, it's pretty darn funny if only because the words sound so strange compared to the original, and I can never find metric equivalents in Afrikaans for the original words... "Mama...ek't net 'n man doodgemaak... het 'n vuurwapen teen sy kop gesit het die skoot laat tref en nou's hy dood" (Mama...just killed a man...etc.) (Mama, life had just begun etc.) Lol I like translating the lyrics purely for the amusement factor... |

Lol I shud try translating a few snatches of Queen songs into Latin. Though that would be a rather painstaking excercise...but I'm sure the end result would be amusing lol. Afrikaans is easy for me though I just want to find some nice lyrics. |

This is surprisngly fun lol. So here is Play the Game in sort of colloquial Afrikaans, though a half-literal translation. So not how one would actually speak. Play The Game Words and music by Freddie Mercury Maak jou kop oop en laat ek binnestap Rus jou moeë kop en laat jou hart besluit Dis so maklik, as jy die reëls ken! |

Right, let's see. U2 come from Dublin. People say they are the best Irish band, they're not. The Undertones are miles better. Teenage Kicks outstrips the entire U2 catalogue. My name is not Munchkin, so shut it. Yes, there is something wrong with being called English when you're Scottish. Very touchy about it, us Scots. And my joke is not sad. It is a slightly altered line from The Simpsons and is not intended to be particularly funny. You would not have mentioned it if I hadn't pointed out your mistake. Eejit. That's how it's spelt, that's how it's pronounced. |

Here in South Africa they released (as a joke) an Afrikaans cover of famous rap songs...lol it was pretty hilarious. |
FriedChicken 19.01.2006 14:01 |
haha so cool that Afrikaans play the game. Moet, are you able to read my old-dutch version of March of the Black Queen? Since afrikaans and (old)dutch are extremely similar |
~-:Moet et Chandon:-~ 19.01.2006 15:15 |
Yes I can! It's excellent lol! And very amusing. I can't speak Dutch (can you understand my Afrikaans), but indeed I can understand it. One often finds pieces written in Dutch in Afrikaans literature...I'd love to learn Dutch actually. Oh yeah, Afrikaans and Dutch are quite similar, but Afrikaans and Flemmish (belgium) are almost identical.] Lol I'd love to do another translation...maybe CLTCL lol |

Thin Lizzy are the best Irish band (my opinion) If you don't believe me then get Blackrose Whiskey in The Jar Thin Lizzy Live And Dangerous Thin Lizzy The Greatest Hits P.s. (Munchsack this is a 'JOKE' remember to 'LAUGH')I know The Undertones are from Derry, I am a huge fan. I like Thin Lizzy, but I don't think they are as good. The English thing, a lot of Scots hate that. English people don't often make that mistake, but it really annoys me because we are a country in our own right. Not independent as I would like. I spent a week on work experience in The Scottish Parliament. That was cool. I don't see what is so funny about that 'joke' but you can't tell if I'm laughing or not. P.S. It is quite well known that U2 are from Dublin. |
