Hey everyone, Just received official press-information about the forthcoming ANATO DVD in Eagle Vision's 'Classic Albums' series. Official releasedate is March 20th. Thought you'd be as delighted as I was to see that not only will there be a regular single DVD - it will also be released as UMD ánd as a limited edition DOUBLE DVD!! No mention whatsoever though about what the content of the second disc will be... |
Lester Burnham 12.01.2006 10:05 |
This had better be released in the US. |
Fenderek 12.01.2006 10:18 |
Can't bloody wait!!!!!!!!! What the hell could be on the second disc? |
YourValentine 12.01.2006 10:18 |
Jeroen, could you please post this press info as a news item on QZ? |
Jjeroen 12.01.2006 10:20 |
That's my wonder as well... I don't think I've seen a double disc in the Classic Albums series before?! I don't know about US releases, the pressrelease I got is about European market only... |
Walter B. 12.01.2006 10:23 |
Jeroen, Is it possible to post the complete press release or a link to the press release? |
Jjeroen 12.01.2006 10:24 |
YourValentine wrote: Jeroen, could you please post this press info as a news item on QZ?Sure Barb, but what I posted above is all the info that's in it about this release. No 'story' or anything. This is from a list they send every month with 'details about upcoming releases'. The pressrelease with a 'story' will probably come a week before the actual release. |

DVD from ANATO 30th anniversary edition as a second DVD for that release? Why not... You can expect anything from them :) |
Jjeroen 12.01.2006 10:48 |
LOL! ;-) Yeah, but difference here is that this is not a Queen Productions/EMI/Parlophone release, but a release by Eagle Vision/Pias - they would not even be allowed to include that disc ;-) Whatever will be on the second disc, it can only be something that has NOT been released before by EMI/Parlophone! |
The Real Wizard 12.01.2006 10:58 |

NTL 12.01.2006 11:03 |
I bet that its Hyde Park (fingers crossed). Looking at the footage of HP on the TV doc it looked fantastic as if it had been fully restored. I hope that Im right and I hope it sells like shit off a stick so we can give a great big middle finger to QP. |
Mkls 12.01.2006 11:21 |
i thought the full content of the 2nd disc was a news item early december.... |

The 50 minutes bonus-footage is supposed to be on the 'regular' disc. (this is common to all DVD's in the Classic Albums series) |
Fenderek 12.01.2006 11:39 |
Whatever will be on the second disc, it can only be something that has NOT been released before by EMI/Parlophone!I'm getting excited right now... And maybe... Is it possible they got like... some rights from BBC...? Know what I'm talking about? ;) |

If it is a concert then it must be "Hammersmith'75". Don't you guys said that this concert belongs to BBC? - Maybe the BBC television allowed rare footage to be used. It's good for Queen, at least they don't have to pay for it!! Take care |
deleted user 12.01.2006 13:43 |
fabulous! But what would be there to include on the second disc? more interviews? Perhaps they DO have the guts to release Hyde Park :D |
Queen T 12.01.2006 14:01 |
What exactly is Eagle Vision? Is it a European company that releases concerts? |
Queen T 12.01.2006 14:07 |
In addition to the 50 minute TV version, as broadcast on BBC TV, there are over 50 minutes of bonus footage including the following: Party Of The First Part - How the album got its title by Roger Taylor. ’39 - Full new acoustic performance by Brian May. Half A Sonic Volcano - Roger Taylor gives his drum kit a work out. Sweet Lady - Brian May introduces the full live performance from the Hyde Park free concert in 1976. The Prophet’s Song - A more in depth analysis by Brian May and Roy Thomas Baker intercut with live footage from the Hyde Park free concert. Love Of My Life - Full track intercutting between a new acoustic performance by Brian May and a stadium performance by Brian and Freddie. Bohemian Rhapsody - Kenny Everett talks about the first time he heard the song and Brian May, Roger Taylor and Roy Thomas Baker go into more detail about the construction of the song illustrated by clips from the video. God Save The Queen - Brian May brings A Night At The Opera to a close. ...so I'm confused...that looks like 2 cd's full of stuff so there would be no more room for rare/unrealeased additions as you are talking about... |
Jjeroen 12.01.2006 14:26 |
Again: it is COMMON for this series that it has the TV-show AND the bonus footage on one disc. (Hey, it's only 100 minutes!?) ALL releases in this series have it like that. - Eagle is a recordlabel - Eagle Vision is their video-department. |
PieterMC 12.01.2006 14:27 |
Where did you get the details above from? |

Can you indicate what avenue one would go about purchasing this when it comes out. Is there a specific link to a website to purchase? |
Jjeroen 12.01.2006 14:49 |
I don't know about the US, Queen T, but over here these DVD's are in all regular record shops... |

Bad news... the secoond disc is nothing but... the album itself. |

What's the betting that disc 2 is simply the disc 2 of the ANATO Deluxe £0th Anniversary Edition.......? |

Jeroen, >Yeah, but difference here is that this is not a >Queen Productions/EMI/Parlophone release, but a >0release by Eagle Vision/Pias - they would not >even be allowed to include that disc ;-) But, QPL are within their rights to licence that bonus disc to Eagle Vision so that they can include it....... Has anyone seen sales figures for the 30th Anniversary set? I can't believe it's sold more than 10,000 copies. |

But do you realy think they EVER would?? :-) |
Negative Creep 14.01.2006 11:32 |
why would they include anything from the recent re-issue? it wouldn't make sense from either side. qp would be undercutting the sales of the parlophone release, and it would cost eagle vision more. |
Roger's Beard 15.01.2006 15:17 |
Well that's just blinking typical. We get to hear Brian whining his way through '39 in full, but not Roger singing and playing his guitar to IILWMC. |
Great King Sam 16.01.2006 11:45 |
As it goes, I have just recently purchased the Nirvana "Nevermind" Classic Albums dvd. As per the booklet that comes with the DVD, which is just a mini-catalogue, all the other 2-disc editions appear to just have the album in question as the second disc. This does seem a little unlikely, but, well, there isn't a "but". |

Great King Sam 16.01.2006 13:20 |
I think I may have slightly mis-read the booklet as I flicked through, however... ...each two disc edition of anything Eagle Vision have done, by the looks of it, are simple one DVD / one CD sets. But I'm not trying to prove or disprove anything, just simply saying, that's all. |
Negative Creep 16.01.2006 13:36 |
i'm just saying i have never seen a double disc release of any classic albums documentary. what would the point be in putting the album in the package as a 2nd disc? the albums is already readily available in several formats, and the dvd will only be bought by queen fans anyway. |
NCC1701Q 17.01.2006 02:47 |
According to dvd.nl, a dutch website about (among other things) upcoming releases, the dutch release will indeed be a 2DVD-release... the first one being the documentary + bonus 50 minutes.... the 2nd one being the DVD from the 30th anniversary edition. So NO concert, NO "unseen" footage, just the regularly available DVD with the stupid seaside footage. Talk about trying to make a few extra bucks.... just bought the 30th anniversary edition and got the cd I already had five copies of... now going to get the documentary and having to buy the 30th anniversary again! |
