<font color=brown>poop dude wrote:Dolt. Demo games require LARGE demo audiences to receive accurate, unadulterated information. You and your friends aren't able to set up a distribution/response system as many professional game developers can.Music Man wrote: Why don't you just put the link up here? Think logically.it is a DEMO. demo game=demo audience You are not professional game developers. THEIR methods will not work for YOUR purposes. EFFICIENCY and LOGIC over FALSE PRETENSES OF PROFESSIONALISM Do you understand? I'm not trying to bust your chops because you're a bunch of kids making a simple game - this is a lesson that is invaluable for the duration of your entire life. ======= But let's think about this from a...professional point of view. What is your goal? To make a game that people on Queenzone will enjoy, and to get it to as many people as possible. What will free and open demos do? Well, if your demo is good enough, it is perfect advertising for up and coming additions and renditions of your work. More people from Queenzone (your main and only demographic audience) will have heard of your project. Anyone at anytime can discover and utilize your game. If you take a VOLUNTARY poll (statistically, usually a bad idea), you will receive information based on the most dire and important needs of your game. This is easy, you can simply make a thread on this forum. ======= Now, if you really want to push the professionality of this further, I could give you a thousand reasons why you should just quit now. But this is healthy for young people to explore and experiment with such things, so I won't. This is merely a PROJECT, not a PROFESSION. Treat things as they are, and not pretentiously. That is the main lesson here today. |

This is just a demo, we're (note the apostrophe) keeping it to a small group. The finished product will be available to all. |

You don't have an ACTUAL reason, now, do ya? Ah, but it's also not very professional to add little notes such as "(note the apostrophe)". I'm just busting your chops, though. We kind of want this to be our contribution to QZ. Me and Poop Dude did most of the programming, Forever made sprites and Jamie and Forever are manning the "advertising" if that's the right word for it. his ver We keep tsion small, and out to limited people, hoping to get people's feedback before they realize that it probably sucks compared to today's gaming standards. When I get the final version done, it will have 10-15 levels, ending with one bad ass boss fight. Then we'll rapidshare or bittorrent or something like that. I dont know how that works, Poop dude will help. Hell, "Freddie's Adventure" is a tentitave name. The mushrooms are going to be albums when I can get them programmed. So music man, would you like your copy? |

I mean, its a game about Queen, using free software, using Queen's music, various other game's enemys. And how? None of us have a credit card you can just send money to. |

All I was trying to point out is that you should never sacrifice practicality for a guise of professionality, which seems pretty prevalent in Forever88...particularly in our impersonal conversation the other day. I'm sure you feel your product is not up to snuff, but rest assured you have my support and I'm sure the support of the rest of the board, just as long as you proceed in the right way, eh? And whenever you're done with it, I think I'd like a copy, too. |
