When did you get into Queen and how? I was just wondering because many of us here are teenagers..so how did you get into Queen? I remember the first Queen song I listened to properly was 'Under Pressure' as I've always been a big fan of Bowie, I never particularly loved it though. I only really got into Queen about two years ago though, I remember I was at a party and WWRY came on and I remember thinking how much I liked Queen but I'd never bothered getting into them..but that all changed..I bought GH1, 2 and 3 and I suddenly realised all these great songs like 'Bicycle Race' and 'Don't Stop Me Now' were Queen songs. So now I have shelves and shelves of Queen stuff and Queen are most definitely my favourite band..Don't know how I ever lived without them. The song that got me into Queen though was 'Killer Queen' I love that song.. |

I was about 14 and very much into post 60's early 70's hippie pre-teen fads. I had a blacklight in my room, a celestial light, furry flourescent feet going up my wall and ceiling, flourescent rock band posters on my bedroom walls. I had tons of beads hanging and used to light candles and listen to the great classic rock FM stations and music of the time, in my room for hours after schooln, and they played Queen and BoRhap ALOT, along with You're My Best Friend, Somebody To Love..and the rest as they say...is history! I also used to watch videos and performance footage of Queen on the old TV shows, NBC's ''The Midnight Special, ''Don Kirschner's Rock Concert''. |

In 1975 I was at a school dance. They were playing records, and they played the song "Killer Queen". I was hooked, and have been a fan ever since. |

My dad listened to Queen alot when I was younger, he always said to me that Freddie Mercury was the best singer of all time. My dad had I think The Miracle-album, Made in heaven and a greatest hits album too. I never really noticed the music. But then, maybe a year ago... I was in a really bad place, I didn't feel well, I had a lot of issues with myself and who I were and felt very lonely and all that. And then... Then I heard Save me. I mean, I had heard it before, since my dad played Queen so much, but I had never really listened to it. And I cried so much the first time I heard it, because it described my life so exactly and I finally got the kinda help and understanding that I couldn't find anywhere else. And then I started to listen more to Queen, and you know, then it became an obsession :) . And Queen just changed my life, I am a totally different person now. I am not afraid anymore, I was always afraid before, afraid of what people would think of me. So, you know, it began when I heard Save me, and now, a year later, I'm sitting here with green hair in the middle of the night posting messages at QZ and listening to Teo Toriatte. Haha, I've never been happier!! :) Queen rocks. |

First of all how old are most of you? Second, I find it very strange some of the topics people put up, but now that someone has stated that most members are teenagers it would explain why the topics are so childish. |

I got into Queen when I was about 2. My dad had 'greatest hits II' and I just grew up listning to it. You know what it's like when you're a kid, everything is on repeat, except for me it was Queen instead of 'sing yourself silly'. I knew all the words to 'I want it all' by the time I was 3! I kept nagging dad to buy new Queen CD's for us to "share". Some of the only times my brother was nice to me was when we would pretend to be Queen. I would be Roger Taylor, with my pot's and pan's drumkit and chopsticks, and my brother would be Brian May using a tennis racquet instead of the 'red special'. I am now glad to say my 3 yr old cousin and his 7 yr old sister are into Queen too, it made me so sad the other day when the 7 yr old asked me if she wrote a nice letter to god, would he let us have Freddie back? |

The Mighty Ducks 2 soundtrack had We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions, and I watched that movie all the time and they soon became my two favorite songs. My dad was always a huge Queen fan, so he'd play his News Of The World cassette whenever I was in the car with him. Loved it, and he introduced me to ANATO soon after, been a fan ever since. Originally only really listened to ANATO, NOTW, Innuendo, and The Game, and Greatest Hits 1 & 2, got into the rest of the albums over the last couple years. |

My mum had GH1 on vinyl and she played it sometimes. I thought it was OK, but I really got into Queen in 2002 aged 12 when my school Christmas concert was We Will Rock You. It wasn't actually the musical WWRY, but they played tons of Queen songs. I asked for the Platinum Collection for Christmas and got it. Didn't stop listening for weeks. Totally hooked. Have since bought all the albums and got my best mate into Queen (a bit). |

My Mum played a lot of Queen cos she loves them. Then I saw 'A Winter's Tale' on a music channel and I loved it straight away. I recorded it onto DVD and needed to find the song. I eventually found it on a mp3 site and I finally bought the album last March. So ever since I've had to find every Queen song I can. |

It all began for me with the I Want to Break Free video. I remember hearing the songs way before the video came out and was hooked. But it was that particular video that made a lasting impression on me. We had a glass coffee table in our living room, I was lying underneath the table watching the camera go up on Roger! My mother walked into the room and asked if I was enjoying myself and when I raised up, I broke the end of table with my head! So I have the scar that will always remind me of that life changing video! |

I remember perfectly.... 14.1.1991. Listening to the Radio,I heard: "And here is the last single by Queen-Innuendo" Then I was 5-yeared boy and even then the song devastated me...I cannot find words to explain it even now! Then I bought the whole album...PURE MAGIC! I began to wonder if they are demigods or smth like that. Freddie died 3weeks and 3days after my 6th birthday. Then I bought Greatest Hits I..... And now I have all their albums! |

Hm, summer of 2004...Me and my friends were going off to the beach and her mom goes, "Hey, Ravie, have you ever heard of Queen?" And I was just baffled by the name, but I liked it. So I heard the usual WWRY, WATC, and AOBTD. I thought to myself, Woah! They did these songs? Cool. Then, I listened to Killer Queen and Somebody to Love and I was hooked. I was completely gaga over them for the rest of the summer, and most of the beginning of the new school year, but forgot them for 3 months for some reason. In spring, my sister bought their Greatest Hits and Classic album and listened to them non-stop. I looked them up online and dug deeper into the magic that was Queen. Anyway, I bought a couple more of their albums, and am still working on it... Phwoar! Yeah, I know it wasn't necessary to write an essay but whatever. |

I started following Queen's music in the mid 1970's. The band wasn't very well known in the United States at that time. During my University years I met more Queen fans and some of us went to see the band when Queen toured here in 1978. I was sold on Queen forever after seeing my first live show....before that I really had no idea who Freddie was. The pictures from the album liners were nice, but they didn't begin to hint at the magnetism and charm Freddie displayed live. Even the videos don't capture the essence of 'live Freddie' in action. I made sure to see them everytime the band came to San Francisco/Oakland. I am sorry they stopped touring the US in the early 1980's. I am totally thrilled that so many teens and young adults have discovered and appreciate Queen. I remember the nasty reviews the critics gave the band in the 70's. Bohemian Rhapsody was seriously dissed by major music critics then. The same critics now praise the very same song as a brilliantmasterpiece now. It is a shame that Freddie never lived to see the worldwide acclaim for Bohemian Rhapsody. |
