Thoughts on this song? I've heard many people saying that it's mediocre; boring; cheesy; too long; overblown; among others. Well I'll admit I've always found it a bit too long (esp. those last two minutes or so, after the three main verses have been sung) and I think it'd have been just fine with some of that chopped off.
That aside though I've always really loved the song...the lyrics are quite straightforward (but great), the melody is nice, and the fact that Freddie, Roger *and* Brian all sing a verse is wonderful! Brian's verse in particular I love especially (for his singing, and for the lyrics).
Indeed, I do like this song very much. In fact, I wonder if Niek would like to say anything on this one. Hee hee! Sorry dude, I couldn't resist.
Peace,
Adam.
I love Let me Live because it's positive and up-beat- it could have been written in the seventies it has the sound of an early Queen songs with Fred's wonderful piano playing-I love th elittle outro at the end. Superb.
Tigerlily Taylor wrote: yeah, it sure is one of my favourite songs! (i love to hear them all sing.....it's a bit gospel-like!) Great song!
I love it too and I adore the gospel choir singing with Roger and Brian. Very uplifting and inspirational song, in spite of the lyrics..the song itself soars.
I really like the song. The only thing I do not like as much is the background singing of the additional background singers. Don't get me wrong, they are singing well but I'd prefer the song to be sung just by Queen. Queen have always done perfect backups in the past and i would just love to hear this song without the additional vocals.
'Teo Torriatte' had a boys choir at the end.
LML was the track that blew the two of us off our feet when we heard it way back when. Freddie, Roger, and Brian sharing LVs for more than just a line or two (FINALLY!!!). The guitar, the lyrics, the BVs.......what Queen was in the 70s, on the occasional track in the 80s, and what 11/12th of the 'Innuendo' LP was. Sheer over-the-top kick axe Queen.
I didn't mean just 'cause the content was sad. I mean the fact that it was a song entitled "Let me live" recorded not long before he stopped living. I'm sorry, I thought that was kinda obvious

Not long before he stopped living... well, how about it was recorded some 8 years before he died?
The track comes from 1983 "Works" session and was ORIGINALLY recorded with Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck in L.A.
Somebody said that they would prefer the backings done by Queen, that's the only real criticism I'd have for the song...I must say I don't really like that gospel-like choir in the background. Other than that I love it.
Jeff Beck? Really wow. I thought I read they never worked with Jeff Beck or was that only not live, or have i misunderstood something here...
