The ability to direct air current via rotating blades or by back and forth motion, in the case of hand-held Asian models. |

LOL If you could train a wild dog to recruit enthusiasts, would you have a fan-dingo? |

A bit unfair to say you have to have been a fan a long time to be a real fan. IMO I think a real fan is someone who has all the albums and recognises the variety of the music and not just GH 1,2 & 3 You don't have to buy everything they release in all different formats etc to be a real fan. That would just make you a collector. |

Part of what makes a real fan is the ability to see past all that 'Freddie was Queen and Queen was Freddie' shite. Freddie Mercury + John Deacon + Roger Taylor + Brian May = Queen. If these tour-bashers ever spent a reasonable amount of time on their maths homework they'd know that already. So now let me ask, who's a real fan? |

Just gonna have to keep on trying. Getting back on the subject. fans have different ways of showing their adoration to their Idols. When I became a Queen fan, I lived in Brookly New York and I had to endure being called a FAG lover because of Freddie. Though I was able to dismiss the name calling and go on being a Queen fan it did have an effect on me. I show more compassion for Homosexuals though I don't condone it. I guess this makes me a true Queen fan. On the more humorous side, I use to sing every Queen song in my room thinking no one can hear me and my sisters use to be on the other side of the door laughing their asses off at me because I can't sing! I just loved to sing to their music. My favorite to sing to was Dreamer's Ball. |

However, Freddie Mercury + John Deacon + Roger Taylor + Brian May = Queen. If these tour-bashers ever spent a reasonable amount of time on their maths homework they'd know that already. You see, this is exactly what causes all the confusion. You say quite rightly that Queen was more than just Freddie, that it was four very spesific persons to be exact... Which isn't possible these days. Based on your own math homework it's more than fair for the "tour-bashers" to say that Brian and Roger playing live on the same stage doesn't equal to Queen, no matter how much they (or you) claim them to be Queen. :/ So it MUST be possible to be a real fan of Queen (the four-man group), and not be ecstatic about "Queen" (the two-man group). |

I think a real fan has to own some of Roger Taylor's solo material- now that's what I call blind or perhaps even deaf loyalty (sorry if I've offended any Cross fans out there) |

A real fan surely is someone who can objectively look at things and praise or indeed criticize if needed. Whole hosts of people have been fans for years (me included) but thats not the be all and end all. |
The prophet's song 31.12.2005 17:08 |
In my oppionion, this is a fan. A fan, given the oppertunity, will always put their favourite Queen song on the jukebox when they go to their local pub, a fan will ring up the rock and solid gold and complain that they do not play half as much Queen as they should, a fan will always get the question right "what rocker opened the Queen's Jubilee celebrations by playing 'God Save The Queen' on the roof of Buckingham Palace" when playing trivial prusuit, and most importaintly, a fan should be grateful that at least Brian and Roger are still out and about gracing us with their presence instead of dissappearing off the face of the world (come back John!). Yes, there are many things that make up a fan, these are just a few. See ya all later, happy new year |

I'll pass on being considered a fan. With some of the close-minded views and attitudes displayed by some people, calling themselves "fan", I wouldn't want to be one. However I've been listening to Queen for over 30 years and I've purchased albums(vinyl), singles, cassettes, CDs, DVDs etc. I have performed some Queen songs as a musician. I don't believe that they are gods or the best musicians to ever have composed/performed. I have the highest respect for their talents. I believe, as I do about most people, that they are probably decent people with their share of imperfections. I do not believe they are public property nor do I believe they owe me or any "fan" anything. Fan is short for fanatic. I'll call myself an admirer of Queen, the individuals who made up Queen and Q+PR. |

A real fan is somebody who listens to all the tracks on an album several times to make sure they really like it or not. |

A REAL fan is someone who listens to Queen all the time and dosne't get bored by them. Someone who is loyal to Queen and followed them through their career to this day. And someone who thinks Queen are f**king fantastic! |

I guess I'm not a real fan then. Seriously... I'd get bored of Queen if I listened to them every day, so I don't! I listen to Yes and various progressive rock bands much more than I listen to Queen these days. I once over-listened to Queen a few years back, and I had to take six months off of them. I'm glad I did. |
