Hi, We all know that Brian & Roger were in Peter Kays Video of "Amarillo" & Peter Guested at both the Manchester & Hyde Park concerts of this year, but I have just watched the new DVD from Peter Kay "Max & Paddy's - The Power of two" & Max(Peter Kay) says that "Bev Callard" of corrie fame, Looks like a Ginger Brian May. I have watched all of Peter's other incarnations, i.e. "That Peter Kay Thing", "The Services", "Pheonix Nights" & "Max & Paddy's - Road To Nowhere" & have noticed that there's lots of Queen references & links within the shows. Just For Fun, how many of them can you name? e.g.(in "The Services" Peter Kay sings "We Will Rock You" naked, down the Hard Shoulder of the M62) So I've given you 2 to start with, 1. "Max & Paddy's - Power of Two" Ref to Brian as Bev Callard. 2. "The Services" Naked rendition of We Will Rock You. Have Fun!!!!!! |

Nuno 30.12.2005 10:11 |
in max and paddy - max is talking about his old girlfriend and says she "is a kind of midget" and paddy turns round and says isn't that a queen song that peter kay thing (mark park episode) he is a singer (bad karaoke type) and he does a version of flash then when talkin through the album listing he mentions another queen song (think it's radio gaga) |

Aha, I'd forgot about that one. He must have mentioned them in his stand up somewhere, when hes going on about partys... |
Nuno 01.01.2006 10:17 |
His bit of one vision from Hyde Park Where he says bits of songs sound like something totally different In One Vision where the lyric is "look what they've done to my dreams" he says it sounds like (which it does) "What have they done to Mike Reid" Very funny man |

Peter who? |
David Jones 01.01.2006 17:17 |
Does this go as far as Max just saying the words "a day at the races" in conversation?... |
A Word In Your Ear 01.01.2006 19:32 |
No it wasn't the "A Day At The Races" comment, as that, I think was to be taken literaly, to be A day at the races. The one that I mean, is a different ref. Do You all give in? Shall I tell you? |

Brian Mays Wig, The last one that I can Think of is from "Phoenix Nights" It's when Mark Park's duo "Park Avenue, I Think?" win the Talent Night competition. The Phoenix Club's house band play "We Are The Champions" I Don't think that they are any more, but I could be wrong. If Anyone can think of any more, please do tell. Don't shun it, Fun it!!!!! |

That Peter Kay Thing. The episode "Arena" when Peter's character is getting bollocked by his supervisor Peter turns to camera and says "Freddie Mercury" referring to the tache and short hair he has. |

Touching a different subject, I was watching Paddy N Max lastnight, the one with the pig and the senile farmer. I had to laugh when the farmer said "these were my dads fields, he worked them til his fingers bled, back in the summer of '69!" Thats why you have to watch them over and over, very clever writing, and very funny. |

You certainly do have to watch them over and over again. Another game to do is to watch out for references to Bob Carolgies - he loves him too! |

My girlfriend and I absolutely adore Peter Kay. He reminds us of Ronnie Barker and we personally think 'Phoenix Nights' is one of the best comedies of all time. We really hope he does a tour this year. The only one I can think of at the moment, which I don't think has been mentioned, is near the end of 'The Services', Peter Kay says 'Another One Bites The Dust as our Freddie would say'. |
A Word In Your Ear 03.01.2006 19:16 |
Hi All, Let's do a recount:- #1."The Power Of Two" Bev callard's like a Ginger Brian May Remark. #2."The Services" Naked rendition of We Will Rock You. #3."Road To Nowhere" A Kind Of Midget(Magic) remark. #4."That Peter Kay Thing" Mark Parks, bad demo of Flash. #5."That Peter Kay Thing" Mark Parks, ref to Radio Ga GA. #6."Road To Nowhere" Fat Bottomed Girls, is playing in the pub. #7."Phoenix Nights" Ray Von plays the begining of A Kind Of Magic. #8."Phoenix nights" House band plays We Are The Champions after Mark Park duo, wins talent night. #9."That Peter Kay Thing" Ref to Peter's supervisor as Freddie Mercury. #10."The Services" Ref to Another One Bites The Dust. #11.(wasn't going to count this one, but I will, as Peter could have "knowingly?" made this ref.) Max, refering to "A Day At The Races" (thanks to David Jones, for that one.) #12.(now this could be getting a little silly) but if we count the ADATR ref from #11, should we count, the one that Brian_mays_wig has found? "his mate showed Max n Paddy the pic of his 'little "MIRACLE"' black son. Tyson" Is their anymore? I Can't remember, but you lot still keep finding them!!!! WELL DONE!!!!!! |

I love peter Kay too..! I saw him at Hyde park at the Queen PR concert, he was only on for a bit and he was really good..! i would go see him if he tours this year.. |
Great King Sam 05.01.2006 07:57 |
In the episode with Mark Park, when he's in the studio recording his album, on his track list, he has Flash, Radio Ga Ga and I believe Innuendo written down as tracks he has recorded. Also, in the episode at the sevice station of "That Peter Kay Thing" where he plays the woman, at the end as she is locking up the station, she looks to the camera and says "...another one bites the dust, as dear Freddei once said" or something like that. Peter Kay is absolute class. |

In That Peter Kay Thing Episode 1 At The End Of Talenttek They Play We Are Champions |

Dobo wrote: In That Peter Kay Thing Episode 1 At The End Of Talenttek They Play We Are ChampionsYes Dobo, You are absolutly correct. "We Are The Champions" Was from "That Peter Kay Thing" & not "Phoenix Nights" as I said was #8. The reason I must have got them mixed up was because, it was the PHOENIX CLUB episode of THAT PETER KAY THING. Sorry All, My Mistake!!! |
Banquo 07.01.2006 04:40 |
Not Queen related but has anyone seen the video to the new Texas song? Peter stars and directs it. Its very funny. I think Peter's great for having Cheryl Avenue come from my home town in Lancashire. We never hear our little town mentioned but to hear it on national TV was ace. Cheers Pete! |

Dear Banquo, if I don't say this, it'll bug me. But your signature is round the wrong way, it's actually "...I said ping-pong balls not King Kong's balls...". Sorry, it's just been bugging me! No offence intended. |
