Status Quo suck, their songs are just awful, all Francis Rossi and Rick parfitt ever do is play the same fuckin chord on the guitar all the way through, all that about they are "Legends" and are in the same league as Queen is pure bollocks! |
Brian_Mays_Wig 29.12.2005 08:15 |
Not in the same league as Queen no, but they cant be that shit to still sell out every show they play and to have been around for 40 years! Coronation Street was a bit embarassing though. |
Mr.Jingles 29.12.2005 08:21 |
Definitely not in the same league as Queen, but at least they're not as awful as Lynyrd Skynard, Dave Matthews Band, or Counting Crows. |

thats nice dear |
Serry... 29.12.2005 08:35 |
Definitely not in the same league as Queen, but at least they're not using link to Mr Scully's site in their profiles as Roger2 does. |

I am very sorry to disagree. Status Quo began life as just another 'sixties hippy Psychedelic Pop band, but by the beginning of the 'seventies, Psychedelia had already shot it's bolt. Reinventing themselves as a heavy blues band, Quo were one of the 'seventies most successful UK artists, and having found that elusive recipe for success STUCK TO IT. It is by STICKING to that very recipe, that they have outlasted myriads of Psychedelic contemporaries, lesser bands, and 'Johnny Come Lately Fly-by-nights'. The only comparison I can make is with 'Coca Cola'. Remember what happened to them when they changed their successful traditional recipe for 'new Coke' - it almost bankrupt the company. The moral of the story is - 'if it aint broke don't fix it' and this philosophy has certainly paid handsome dividends for the boys in blue jeans. Which means that they are very well named 'Status Quo' if you ask me! |

Status Quo are ROCKIN ALL OVER THE WORLD! |
Roger2 29.12.2005 10:38 |
Their songs are awful, they are obviously absoloute crap coz they appeared on Coronation street, can you name any other Rock bands that have appeard on Corrie, not even any crap ones, so it all makes sense why they appeard on Corrie coz they are that crap and the only ones available, better bands have better things to do with their time and be more succesful unlike Status Quo, e.g "rockin all over the world" same power chord over and over again throughout the song, they are amateurs. |
deleted user 29.12.2005 10:44 |
status quo are not shit, they are not in the same league as queen but they are great musicians in my opinion, they do play only 3 chords but i still think they are great. |
deleted user 29.12.2005 10:46 |
if they are so shit why would they be asked to play the opening bit of live aid back in 1985? probably this biggest part of the show is the opener, if the opener wasnt good the show wasnt, quo rocked the world rite there and tehn. |
Serry... 29.12.2005 10:54 |
To be honest, a lot of useless and stupid artists have played on Live Aid... Status Quo is not one of them though. |
Mr Mercury 29.12.2005 10:56 |
I fully agree with what Linda has said. And by the way they know 4 chords - they had to learn the fourth one when Brian did his solo for their version of "Raining In My Heart". So there! :-P |
Mr.Jingles 29.12.2005 10:58 |
Why pick on Status Quo when there are far worse rock bands... * hint * hint * The Darkness |
PieterMC 29.12.2005 11:07 |
I've heard that Queen band are pretty shit. Status Quo kick their ass anyday. Oh and The Darkness RAAAAAWWWWWK!!!! |

And...they are so iconic as so is that song, that that is why Sir Bob Geldof personally gave them THE coveted, historic position of personally asking them to OPEN Live Aid, and with THAT song!!!! Yeah! I am SO happy that Rick Parfitt is well and does NOT have cancer. I have been following the news on that and talk about a sigh of relief! |
Roger2 29.12.2005 11:30 |
crap bands can be popular you know, that's why they opened up Live Aid, and the Darkness are not shit |
Roger2 29.12.2005 12:55 |
it is great that The Darkness admire Queen and have had some interesting comments about them, even though they did steal the riff from One Vision and the solo from Somebody To Love (and also don't know if anyone has noticed but the power chords from "Christmas Time" sound a lot like the ones Brian May plays in Somebody To love live) But they have their own thing even Brian May said, infact it took me a while to notice they sounded a bit like Queen. and in regards to Status Quo their songs may be catchy but that doesn't mean they are good, like a spoof. |

Unfortunately...fans of Status Quo may be in for a shock if they buy recoirds or concert tickets to Stat Quo by accident... ..or I guess vice versa! |

Roger2 wrote: Status Quo suck, their songs are just awful, all Francis Rossi and Rick parfitt ever do is play the same fuckin chord on the guitar all the way through, all that about they are "Legends" and are in the same league as Queen is pure bollocks!I agree, in an interview they said that someone said all their songs sound the same and they said "Well, we're Status Quo and we have a certain sound, if we're not supposed to sound like Status Quo, what are we supposed to sound like?" What sort of response is that? Queen were Queen, but none of their stuff sounds the same! In response to Status Quo's quesation, you should sound like Status Quo, but be more original! I know Coronation Street is fictional but it's meant to be based on reali life situations, etc, well I can't believe anyone liking Status Quo as much as Les Battersby! That's just unrealistic. To be fair, one or two of their songs are catchy (only because they are played to death), but that's not enough to make them a good group. Their song "Whatever You Want" really sucks and so many adverts have done it to death. I'd like to see them start on me in real life! Never mind getting them to do a private gig for me, I'd take them well to the cleaners! |
Nathan 17.05.2007 04:36 |
Status Quo were my first and, to date, only concert back in November 2005. That was one of the best nights of my whole life. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I respect that, but to me, Status Quo will always be one of the greatest and are right up there with Queen. |

Status Quo are an amazing band in my opinion. And if they really sucked that much then why would they still be going so strong and performing sell-out concerts after 42 odd years?? I love them personally and have seen themn live and it was one of the best nights of my life (except for seeing Queen live). The three bar blues they play is part of they're trademark. They can't lose that! Although they are capable of doing much different songs. If you took a listen to the Party Ain't Over album with tracks like This Is Me and Familiar Blues. They're actually calling the next album "In Search Of The Forth Chord"! lol. I love em. Status Quo rock!!! |
brian-harold-may 26643 17.05.2007 10:25 |
they are great and so are the darkness. And on another note. sir ian mckellen appeared on Corrie( which is pretty good show anyway) so does that make him a crap actor? no he is extremely talented. and they dont play the same chord. They have the same sound but then so do most bands. I mean how many times has Brian played an A and a DA chord. Alot of his songs contain this transition. so i suppose that makes him crap to you aswell. LEARN YOUR FACTS BEFORE OPENING YOUR MOUTH. However, i do respect that you dont like them but i do not respect that you call them crap. I do not like Beyonces music but i would never call her crap, she is quite clearly an extremely talented singer and performer, just not my kind of thing. It's pretty obvious you are quite an ignorant and small minded person. |

I don't listen to Status Quo, but I saw them live once as a warm up act and they were great fun. Everyone was having a great time, myself included. And the Corrie appearence was hilarious, and shows they don't take themselves too seriously. |
