These PR bashers used to enrage me. They filled me with hatred, thinking, what idiot bastards. Then I figured it out, and now smile. What's the punishment for these assholes? They obviously are Queen fans, so they get the worst punishment. There skepticism and bad attitude will be paid back harshly! How? They will begrudingly not go to the concerts, hence, they will never even know what they missed.
I was once a PR skeptic, but with the attitude that, oh well, at least it will be something. Now I am amazed at how brilliant Brian was for not only seeing it, but feeling so strong about the union that he brought Roger into the mix and took it as far as it is now.
Paul's blues style, as shocking as it is, not only does it somehow work, but it makes Queen, not better, but different in a way that is not only still great, but different enough to make them shiny and new.
I have gone from, "Hell yeah, Paul doesn't sing all of them at least." to "Cool, Paul's going to try that one, and Queen's going to perfect that song of Paul's."
The only way to grow is to admit your mistakes, and my attitude about Paul being a good voice, but the wrong guy for Queen, as well as my fear of him trying to blues Queen up, was 100% wrong. He did everything I was afraid he would do, and thank goodness he did. I was right, he would mess up Queen. What I didn't know was that his damage would create something, not quite as good, but close enough in greatness, and more importantly, way different. It's not that different is a good thing, with Queen it would be impossible for a major vocal change to be a positive change. I just had no idea that it would be as different as it is, and still so freaking great!
You anti-Paul guys, all I can say is, "HAHAHA! You suckers! Keep bitching your asses off while the rest of us get to enjoy this great new band called Queen + Paul Rodgers.
