I used to know it word-for-word. I had to learn this damn song in 7th or 8th grade -- I forget now. My teacher gave a history lesson over the people/events listed in the song and then we had a fill-in-the-blank test over the lyrics.
Apparently a journalist from The Times (aka The London Times) rang up Billy Joel's press office this week and asked "Did Billy Joel start the fire?"
The press office replied "Uhh, not as far as we know. Why?"
The journalist continued, "Well, we wanted to know if he started the fire or it was just always burning since the world's been turning".
The press office then told the journalist "You'd need to speak to our American office about that".
And that's a true story.
And I found it funny.
